Here's your opportunity to tip the tunes in your box for future greatness, during the forthcoming year... or simply list any number of records that you'd like to recommend to other Soul Sourcers. You might be a DJ with that tasty unplayed, unknown, hardly played or semi-known 45 stuck in the back of your box that you'd love to play out... but haven't quite got around to it... yet! You might be a collector, sitting on a tune that you know, if it got into the right hands, could become massive in the next 12 months. It could be an LP track that, for whatever reason, has never been given the recognition it deserves. It might be a tasty 'B' side that, given the right exposure, might just have what it takes to become a monster! We're talking, Northern, Modern, Crossover or 'Just Soul' Whatever floats your boat! With increased diversity around these days, this should be an interesting list! How about those funky groovers. Are they now providing a rich new seam of quality music to add to the Northern playlists? No need to post sound clips. Just let us know what you've got that you think deserves a really big plug in the coming year! So come on. Look at your box and let's have your top tip (or tips) for 2014. Its always surprised me what people put forward as tips for the future, when clearly they've been and gone in other parts of the country, or on other parts of the 'scene'. I guess that's down to both the diversity in music and the various strands in the UK and beyond. We don't all know it all these days... at least not at the same time :0) Picking up on Steve G's point again, is it felt that the Modern & Crossover scenes can often be a breaking ground for the wider 'Northern' scene? Tell you what though, a bit quiet in here tonight. SS Members normally have no problem making recommendations. Here's my recent tip anyhow. Soulful midtempo I've played for a while now that deserves broader acceptance. A previously unreleased Chess / Muscle Shoals track (only Vinyl imprint is Japanese). Bobby Moore 'Can't Get Away'. My first tip, might be a bit controversial & is definitely not one for the purists but I bet it will be massive on the dancefloors if anyone has the balls to play it. It's a remix of Billy Stewarts Summertime by Smoove & before anyone say's how dare somebody remix this don't forget Billy's version is in fact a cover version. I've done my research and nobody has ever mentioned it in this forum and there is no googleable content of any other claims to it being 'massive' anywhere. There's no need for that. How about just reading what everybody else posts, if you know it already ignore it. If you don't have a listen and make a mental note if you like it. Because its a debating forum and if i want to comment I will do so. I was simply passing comment because the choices were surprising with a large majority of the 2007 list being well known at the time and had been for a lot of years, many for 15/20 years plus, if you don't like that then tough sh*t.
