I've done my research and nobody has ever mentioned it in this forum and there is no googleable content of any other claims to it being 'massive' anywhere. It's a cheap LP on Buddah, and I think it's got the longest title of any record I own... 'God has blessed our hands... A musical tribute to a people's struggle for equality'. And most bizarrely, he's got Rance Allen playing guitar and not singing on it. so there cheers Sutty I put this on Refo Soul when I was in betwwen jobs, so that's 6 years ago. Oh,it started with "Soul for sale" instru,then the funk guys flipped it for "If the shoe fits" later. Maybe some things do cross from the dark side.And just maybe, its not that well known on the "new" funky scene. Lets hear some stomping NS from the in depth collectors. I am pretty certain the depth and knowledge of collectors on here have more than a few tracks, even those semi known, that on the whole have still got to have their day even if known. I am not talking about old biggies/ semi known becoming popular again, but the little gems that you rate. A deep soul gem for me has been Walter Washington "The Sun don't shine" on 3 Oaks. Without blowing trumpets, played this last Soul Essence in Jim Wray Lounge and put it on a giveaway CD and it was received with mass acclaim if you count being asked about it, as Deep Soul goes. So if your into The slower stuff then check that out. Think its on my pod cast from radio show. Check 365soul.com on the radio show forum on here. Dave H Good post Dave, I think most peoples perceptions of records "making it" on here is if it was played out to the masses and achieved dancefloor recognition, as far as I see it, if someone recommends something and there is a few who don't know it and love it, then for me its made it, dancefloor or not, great thread to check stuff out you might not know, just like the Record Club on here, I certainly love the slower side of soul, so realistically, Jim Wray lounge or Horse and Groom, Doncaster and Filthy are the only places I will here that kind of stuff (at a venue). If we're gonna recommend stuff like Howeefeel that has major input from the Davis Brothers, then I'd nominate a couple of cuts from Davis Import as well (Avi: late 70's / early 80's). But if you think I'm buying all this lot you've another thing coming ....And if I was interested for my own benefit I'd have asked for people to pm me their suggestions. As a matter of fact (for a number of reasons) I've pretty much given up both DeeJaying and collecting. Got a couple of dates to fulfill in the diary and then I'm offski! This is just a bit of fun I started 7 years ago which has became a bit of an annual tradition. We'll see if the thread can keep running with a few more suggestions (without anyone trying to pull the wheels off it) and then (if I get a mo) I'll put em all in a list and see how many it amounts to.
