A) Unreleased Northern soul acetate : Unknown Artist — You Shouldn’t Have Set My Soul On Fire — Angel Sound — Ultra Rare Northern Soul Acetate 45 — £50
Very rare release here. Ultra rare soul acetate recorded at Angel Sound in New York City by an unknown female soul artist doing a startling rendition of Inez Foxx’s “You Shouldn’t Have Set my Soul on Fire”. Sounds to be an unfinished demo and the only additional information from the acetate is a stamp: Giant Enterprise, 1674 Broadway, NY. Very rare one of a kind soul 45. Will load a link to an mp3

3) Artist : Elvin Spencer / Title : Lift this hurt/Don't make this dream come true / Label : Winner records 1970 / Condition : Ex : Price :  £75  The best version by a country mile : On the original label

5) Artist : Le tre Femme / Title : Open up the safe/You better get back / Label : 20th century fox White Label Promo / Condition : Ex : Price : £45 : White label promo copy. Very rare femme Northern soul 45 that upon a glance of the lable you would not expect to be soul! No doubt it has been under the radar partly because of this,however one recently sold for over $100 : Check out a clip on you tube to see what all the fuss is about : A top notch spin!

6) Johnny & the expressions — Boys & girls together/Give me one more chance (Josie) Ex £20 : Anthemic feel good Northern soul stomper. A rare and collectable Northern Dancer arranged by Leroy Glover

7) Betty Everett — Nothing I wouldn’t do/In your arms (ABC) Ex £50 (Last copy on ebay sold for £80!) Absolute perfection from this tragically underrated singer ! This was Betty Everett's first 45 after the closing/ bankruptcy of Vee Jay Records Coupled with a great song (penned by Jo Armstead and Valerie Simpson), some super production from Johnny Pate, and of course Betty's always lovely vocals, this sophisticated and swingin' song should have been a hit!

8) Artist : Etta James /  Title : Seven day fool/It's too soon to know / Label : Argo / Condition : Strong VG : Perfect for Djing as pressing is so loud : Price : £25 Classy 45 that needs little introduction!

9) The Dignitaires — Steppin’ out/You want to be free (Darec) Ex £50 : Very Rare & Unknown/Unlisted organ funk 45 with a psychedelic twist : Very Keb Darge Deep funk sound : Highly recommended! 


10) Artist :  Eli 'the prophet' / Title :  Take a little give a lot/A woman is a sometime thing / Label : ALA 1177 / Condition : Ex : Price : £30

11) Artist : MD-20-20 / Title : Listen to the Rhythm Band 1 & 2 / Label : Magic Show / Condition : Ex / Price : £30 : Quality funk modern 45

12) Tommy Ponce — Mucho Momma/Blowin in the wind (P.S.) VG+ £25 : Obscure & Solid Latin soul 45 from Chicago. Despite his unfortunate surname he’s really not that bad at all, giving us a 2 sided gem here! The A-side is a cool beat driven ‘wade in the water’ Mod jazz killer & the B side is a tight dancefloor jazz version of the Dylan classic which strange but in a good kind of way. Defnitely one to drop on a unsuspecting crowd. A rare private pressing that’s hard to find especially in such great condition. Bargain price too!

13) Tom and Jerrio - Boo-Ga-Loo (ABC -10638) VG Price (fine for Djing) £12 US issue of this fine rhythm & soul latin dancer. A Mod Boogaloo winner at a silly price : Highly Recommended!

14) Spencer Wiggins — Lonely man/The power of a woman (Goldwax) Ex £25 Killer slice of 2 sided soul at a great price

15) The Roulettes — Junk/The long cigarette (Parlophone) Ex £12 / Cool & Classy Mod/R&B electric piano instro : Worth every penny of £12 Check ‘Junk’ & see why, always in my playout box : A perfect companion to Denny Rice's - Doggin' which is another electric piano R&B instro that I'm selling below

16) Russell Evans & the nite hawks — Send me some cornbread/The bold Ex £20 (Atco) Killer R&B soul crossover with a vocalist who sounds just like Dr John which can be no bad thing. A Crackin' A side is followed by a Instro B side which is a killer cool & groovy mod Hammond workout sounding very British, like something from the film ‘Blow up’ Recommended 45!

17) Denny Rice — Doggin’/Rinky (Fraternity) VG+ £15 : Quite an unexpected find for this label : Fraternity usually being a label producing surf & frat 45’s. This is a solid R&B Instro with fine electric piano over a solid backbeat! Recommended pick!


18) The Kittens -How Long/I’ve got to get over you (Chess) Ex £20 Rare northern soul girl group - classy 45 at a bargain price : one for £45 on Ebay at the moment & part of one of Manships auctions last year.

19) Mongo Santamaria — Cloud nine/Son of a preacher man (Columbia) Ex £15 White label promo. Superb latin funk on the A-side : One of Keb darges legendary deep funk club spins!

20) Little Stanley - The Stran / Third wish - You Gotta Believe (In Yourself) 45 (HIP CITY) £20 : Rare giveaway 45 from the German Hip city club, long deleted and sought after with a very rare alternate instrumental version of ‘you gotta believe in yourself’ Listen below and imagine how good this sounds as instro only! : Dj's choice!

30) Marva Whitney — It’s my thing/Ball of fire (King) £12 VG+ (would be ex but due to label damage) A 45 that needs little introduction : Solid funk 45 : Many of these were pressed with the wrong labels and this is one of them were ‘ball of fire’ is listed as A & B side, the previous owner has rectified this by messily scratching this out so expect some label damage!

31) Soul Toranadoes — Funky thang/Go for yourself (Burt) VG+ £10 : Funk 45 classic, both sides are wicked! a 45 that has recently been reissued as part of a box set and been compiled countless times, no need for that guv, get the original for dirt cheap here!

33) Barbara Lynn : Nice & Easy/I'm a one man woman (Atlantic) Red & white label ? Promo VG+ £12 : ‘Nice & Easy’ a classy track thats always in my playbox, A criminally underated track thats every bit as just as classy as ‘I’m a good woman’ and a lot cheaper. Pisses over tracks that cost tens times as much : Highly recommended!

42) Lonnie Sattin — Sweetheart/Thats all (Sunbeam) VG+ £12 Superb Popcorn 45 along the lines of ‘Fever’ at a bargain price : one of those strange 45’s that sounds better if you pitch it down to almost 33rpms where it sounds especially dark!

43) The Dirte Four — On the move/I want to give you all my love (Charay) Ex £25 Original 1st label press thats hard to get : Superb mod Hammond funk soul KPM style funk on the A-side.

45) Virgil Griffin & the rhythm kings - A forgotten lover/if you can't go don't (Reginald) VG+ £10 A two sided bargain for the taking here. One side of deep melancholic soul with incredible heartfelt horn arrangements & one side up-tempo play out material on one killer 45,all at a great price! What’s not to like?
