 I look forward to getting this CD, one of the few recent forward thinking releases.

 32 page booklet as well.

About 1972 I bought a 100 record soul pack from Record Corner.

Sadly I cut it up into batches of 5 and sold them off a quid each at the time.

I did however hold on to a number of Stax/Volt records over the years including the Emotions "blind alley" , the Limitations "All Because"

and the Sons of Slum "Right On".

 HI ALL  WHOSE CONFUSED? LET THE DADDY EXPLAINE, RECORD CLUB RULES ARE 1) YOUR POSTING, pick any of your records that you have played at home from your collection or box,

2)if it turns you on & you want fellow members to listen to your choice, post it up for us to listen to. 3) add some sort of info about the posting plus a rateing & value. 4) it is your choice, there are over 75000 R&B SOUL FUNK for you to choose from. 5) it does not matter if it is common or rare, if you own it play it. 6) I put a theme each quarter as a rough guide, the reason for this come about, a few years ago, when the thread slowed down, technology has moved on, but we have kept it going with great sucsess that has made the thread the #1 on soul source, 7) you should only post 1 record a day, however sometimes a regular poster will put 2 up, you all know who?

my posting to-day is based round the 6ts soul/funk of the south of USA.

as an example of how the same song can be so different but all so good.

in 1965 Lee Dorsy cut the dance classic "ride your pony" penned by Naomi Nevile  produced by Allen Toussaint, 67 betty harris cut it for SANSUE, in the UK  it come out on John Abbys ACTION LABEL ACT4535, Although a few covers exist, it was in 1974 the METERS did a version, my posting is a live version, so try and get the UK  ISLAND 45, IT IS WELL WORTH THE SEARCH

Bought Betty Harris in the sixties, Action was a great label for me in those years,Brothers 2,Dee Dee Warwick, Melvin Davis and Rubiayats just to mention a few .Still got them all and more. Here is the b side of Ride your Pony  Trouble with your lover and The Rubiayats  Omar Khayyam both Allen Tousaint written and produced tunes great days.Don't like to get involved with values as a record is worth what you are personally willing to pay for it but most of these were 7 bob at the time.

Remember been into Parliament when P Funk was massive,just as I started clubbing when I was still at school,pre starting my northern journey.Still got my Mothership Connection LP & The Clones Of Dr Funkenstein also still got the Casablanca 45 of P Funk somewhere & still love it but not played for many moons.........well that looks like my afternoon sorted.........bottle of red opened & a bit of P Funk at full blast (until madam b*llocks me )
