I'm seriously not trying to troll but which ones of your plays do you consider underplayed? I'm really curious...

Hi there, I know what your saying here but although its not obvious in his original description I have to defend Billy.

I think he means the description of the night as a whole. From early doors to 2pm it was classics & rare to cater for the

Anniversary and the crowd at that time were wanting that format played.  Andy Gill was on too early really, he played

some great rare tunes tho'.  Then as it was a 'mini' allnighter the last 2 hours catered for the lovers of

'underplayed' - Swifty from Brighton and local Top collector Frank Webster played some great stuff for the crowd that

stayed and they were up for it..

I had'nt Dj'ed at the venue before so on the night I played rare classics as I was on at midnight  to keep the floor full.

Here's what I can remember playing although possibly not in the right order: -

JOHNNY CASWELL

ADAMS APPLES

EULA COOPER

GEORGE BLACKWELL

EDDIE SPENCER

TANGEERS

JIMMY MACK

GREATER EXPERIENCE

SAM WILLIAMS

YVONNE VERNEE

JACKIE BEAVERS - I NEED MY BAY

LARRY CLINTON

YUM YUMS

VONDELLS

MONTCLAIRS - HEY YOU

BERNIE WILLIAMS

LOU PRIDE

TIMI YURO

Great night all round....

No problems Benji. The mini nighter was described as oldies and underplayed. 80% of what i played was obviously quite familer, the underplayed from a personal point of view which I don't hear out of the places i go to. Is 7 Dwarfs, Ernie Andrews, Milton Wright, Tan Geers, Jackie Forrest and Betty Boo.

Cheers Billy

Thanks Billy, that's the kind of reply I was hoping for.

Hammie, do you consider any of your plays underplayed? Or just solid quality oldies?

Hi mate,

No, what I played was just solid quality oldies as you said keeping the majority of the crowd, on the night, on the dance floor.

To be honest the only thing out of my set that is a little bit underplayed is the GREATER EXPERIENCE.

On another night with a different crowd I would love to do a spot playing underplayed if asked (to be honest I get a lot more

enjoyment out of doing a set like that these days)  I love the kind of 'Collectors get together' type thing nights and hearing something

new to me (which is quite a lot ha ha).

you will be playing at Blackhearts Billy .. but i think you are going to skegness weekender  sadly ..  see you soon mate .

as for underplayed .. one mans underplayed is another mans regular  play  .. it all depends on how well traveled and varied you are at weekends .

Well technically you played the LIMITATIONS as you generously let me stick it on in your spot, thanks for that.

Anyway you played a great nightshift spot, some top tunes...... just the kind of spot I like to do when given the chance

Catch up with you sometime for some more banter

Hi Frank

You also played The Dynells - Call On Me - I came up and asked you what it was and took a photo of the label which i've got on my iPhone.

Glad I stayed till the end. Nice one.
