not a one for watching the latest films but I do like films set in 50's / 60's northern towns. I got put onto "The Whisperers" which can be viewed on youtube. Some great old backdrops of Manchester and Oldham.

 

Fantastic film too!

The Talking Pictures Freeview channel has loads of old films from the 30s through to the 70s including a lot set in Northern towns (Saturday Night, Sunday Morning, Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Taste of Honey, etc.)

Stars Dakota Fanning as "A young autistic woman who runs away from her caregiver in an attempt to submit her manuscript to a "Star Trek" writing competition. "

Searching for the sugar man - basically about a singer song writer from Detriot 1968 who sold very little records in the USA who became a legend in SA - ref to Motown , and other interesting facts - good watch more a documentary

Watched this back in 2015, although films with subtitles are not everyones cup to tea, this is a wonderful thought provoking film which i recommend everyone should see, don't know if it has had a mention on here, apologies if it has....................

Not to be confused with this very similarily titled film 'Tangerine'
