Try as I might I cannot seem to master the quote facility when posting.

How do you get the dotted line box around the section you want to quote?

I have looked in the help section and followed the instructions but no joy.

Sorry if this is basic stuff but I want to post properly like the big boys.

I don't know either - I just click the first reply button and you can edit the text that you are quoting and add your reply

It's easy as it happens if you just want to quote the relevant post press the reply button (not add reply) on the bottom RH side of the post you wish to quote. The add your reply after the last /quote bracket.

If you want to quote multiple posts then press the quote + button (this will then turn to quote - ) of each post you wish to quote then press add reply at the bottom of the page. Then add your comments at the relevant points again after the /quote brackets. Hope that helps

trick with the posts on here is as John says hitting the right button in first place

and then the bracket.

each bracket in post formats text etc, but!

each bracket must be in a pair

this is how you would see post before posting

[B] this would display this in bold [/b]


[quote] this in quote[/quote]


[COLOR=red] this in red [/COLOR][/code]


and this is how it would display once submitted - there is a preview function

easiest way is to highlight text and then click the button above



no big thing really as usually can spot what is quoted and so on, 

help file can help, but  there are a few outta date bits


if wanna test/play - use the  freebasing room - and mark post test -delete
