Isley Brothers : Tell Me It's Just A Rumour Baby

Went to the Plebs Club in Sunny Halifax yesterday and although the club policy was playing vinyl from 1963 to 1968, this one was played out. I was always under the impression that this was on the Starline compilation L.P. and then was released around 1971ish due the demand?

Mentioned this to another punter and he said that there was a single of this and it was played at Samanthas in Sheffield in 1968.

Just had a brief look at  the UK and US discographies but can't see any mention of it.

Can anyone out there enlighted me on this one?

Many thanks,

In Anticipation,

Ian

good things / tell me its just a rumor  - tamla motown - 5C 006-90825

Hi Eddy, thanks for that but was this one actually around in 1967/8 just because it may say it on the label doesn't mean it was available at that time. See post 5 for instance.

Yes that's another compilation it was released on along with https://wax.fm/release/isley_brothers_isley_brothers/SRS+5098/d/2925823 First heard this played at Blackpool Mecca by Tony Jebb in 1971 and was told at the time you could only buy it on the L.P's

NO dutch release was Jan 1970, it was played of an LP at the Casino assume to be Soul on the Rocks, along with Marvelettes Only Your Love can save me , the brilliant Ain't No Sun (since you've been gone) by Chuck Jackson and one by Gladys Knight that I canna remember the title of, the latter 3 never made it to 45.

Gladys Knight, "Ain't You Glad To Chose Love" was released on a 45 in the Phillippines, whilst the Marvelettes "Your Love Can Save Me", came out as an EP in the US, albeit a demo only to promote their album.

i have the isleys a being nov/dec 1969 judging by the number on dutch TM....I have several more around that period...either way it was released  to cash in on the belated motown success from that time and not because of plays on the uk scene.. its the `b` side of goods thing..a great record also and plays the longer original lp version rather than the one on the 1973 uk issue..it doesnt turn up very often and i wouldnt say its worth a massive amount....................but if a copy got auctioned in the right hands
