Ady Croasdell
Well if she is a celebrity presenter, she's certainly low profile. Link to comment Social source share

Guest Matt Male
Listening now. I love the way social trends contribute towards the ebb and flow of the scene. Chicken in the basket did for the Wheel. It was a bit confusing that while Kev Roberts is talking about the Torch in episode 2 I could hear Take That and Madonna in the background. Tailormade Gaz B
You'd have thought she'd have hired someone. Maybe a celeb? I think its more befitting to have a relatively low-profile voice narrate and program it - keeps it personal and is in keeping with much of the BBC's 'factual' programming. Celebs lending their voice to has started to dilute the message, i think, but just my opinion. Thats where all the fetishisation has came about and it detracts from the substance of the matter. E.g. that awful Sharleen Spiteri recording - firstly, she has a very boring delivery, and secondly, the underpinning tone was about 'her acquaintance' with the scene.Anyway, 6 music, which is pure class have got the balance right - recognised guests doing their picks, Jarvis C, Guy G, Iggpy P and then anything more affiliated with the common man e.g. a cultural movement tends to be done by the editors etc. Link to comment Social source share

Back Street Blue
Thought the Wheel and Torch episodes were good....John Cooper Clarke's account was great....but lost interest part way through the Wigan episode which was largely Russ's mobile disco version of events that has been covered before and would have prefered some in-put from RS. Didn't know that Gethro was one of the TOTP's dancers though!! Link to comment Social source share
Chalky
T first two were excellent. Julie Cullen let others tell the story which is how it should be. Some honest accounts of the times and a hreat insight if you weren't there. Winstanley undid all the good work of the first two. Did he tell any actual facts. Did he have the FW to sell for a grand, I thought he got a dub and only borrowed the real one late. Did he really ring Frank Wilson to say He had the only copy in his hands and was playing it at Wigan? I know he was a key element of the Wigan Story but I would have preferred less of Winstanley and more from the people who went as dancer, record dealers etc and also something from Richard. Guest
I have thought for years that the perfect person to host a Northern Soul show for the BBC would be Richard Searling. He knows all the history of the scene, he was the leading longtime DJ at Wigan Casino, and is a great experienced presenter with a great taste in Soul music! He should have done that midday New Years day Northern Soul show! Come on BBC! Edited January 5, 2015 by Guest Link to comment Social source share
