NORTHERN SOUL FREESTYLE

Well after a month of nothing but “Wigan” based podcasts, I took this opportunity to go freestyle, not really sure what that actually means but basically I just played anything I wanted to with no theme or running order.  I also kept the Wigan stuff to a minimum so most (but not all) records on here are either sleepers, or where big AFTER Wigan closed, so anyone who thinks Northern Soul died in 1981, I hope this will convince you otherwise.  I think the last 30 minutes are so is one of the best podcasts I’ve ever done.  But I’d had about 5 pints and 3 cans by then, so I would do!

As good as it gets. Along with Chalky's Stafford stuff and the too infrequent stuff from the good Mister Fish, these podcasts epitomise the essence of the music we love and the broad church that it encompasses.

Looks like you're going to have to stay around a bit longer then.

Thanks everyone, and thanks for noticing the three or for lesser known things mixed in - I mean for instance, that Freddie Gorman, a record I've had but never actually played, and it's phenomenal, this is the exact case of someone not playing a record because it's cheap, and I am so guilty!
