Possible for Searling but then I get the venues mixed up and might be thinking of his sets at Rotherham. I am sure Mark Freeman from Nuneaton would know since he tried to amass every tune ever played there. I know the others were at Clifton before me but I doubt they would have played this particular record any sooner, as I think we all got them from the same source (Arthur) around the same time. I certainly remember hammering it at the KGB and Windmill while it was still very hot and then at Clifton, Cleggy, Bradford etc... soon after It's an interesting point though. The truth is (and I'm not sure it can be said nowadays) quite a few of us would be playing many of the same sounds at the same time. Guess that's how they came to be so massive! And even more interesting to see how there seems to be a 'revived' interest in records from this era, right now. Sean Richard certainly didn't play this at CH Sean. It was definitely played before you came on board mid 82. And it certainly wasn't on my playlist at Cleggy although I played it at CH earlier. What I said was I played it regularly at (probably every) Clifton Hall, KGB, Cleethorpes after buying it from Arthur. And (as I said) I would have thought a couple of us had it there. I also said it was a massive record in South Yorkshire at the time" which is absolutely the case. I played it at KGB and Windmill etc. maybe before I even worked at Clifton (having bought it from Arthur... at the same time as others did!) but I don't think I ever missed a night at Clifton where I didnt play it. The guy asked for some history on the record and I gave him some of what I could recall. Think its probably right that Richard didnt play it at CH (much or even at all) was only half sure whether he did or not. What I was doing was disputing it being played in Mr M's as the thread starter had been informed. Who else played it at Clifton, I honestly can't recall (must have been several - the record was huge) but it was certainly still played for a good couple of years afterwards, including by me (at Cleggy, in particular and Bradford etc.) and others - Darren, Adam, etc. and Dave Thorley, Robin etc. at Stafford. But before all of that, it was an Arthur / Snaith record regardless of who, where, or when thereafter - And seems to be indemand again! By the way, speaking of Clifton Hall.... where was you t'other week (at the reunion)? You missed a great night. Tons of old faces. And very fond memories. Are you doing the next un? I'd have said the record was played for 2+ years Chalks. Stafford started after Clifton started but I think there was some 'crossover'. Sean Yes, I have fo the popular ones. most of the Stafford DJ's were DJing other well known places before Stafford, mainly Wigan and Yate, same for some of the Clifton Hall DJ's who played all over the country. Arthur and Sam were great resources and never had a problem distributing some of the nice things they found on US trips (CoCo & Ben, Johnny Scott, etc.). Would like to see that venue / dates list mate. I think I have it that Clifton Hall started near the end of 1980 (October? - is that correct?) from memory, but have no idea of the date of the last one. Havent got a clue as to when Cleggy Winter Gardens kicked off again or ended. Just know we seemed to get through a mountain of records between us!
