Funky Sole In Los Angeles Deep Funk 20Th Anniversary Tribute Mix

Recommended Posts

In light of the recent 20th Anniversary of the legendary 'Deep Funk' club sessions (FYI 27th January 1995 to 2015), I figured I'd play a set of records to celebrate some of the tunes played, from the first coupla DF nights.....which then morphed into playing some of the killer 'new music' that was played towards the end of the night's tenure. The crowd at Funky Sole in Los Angeles is excellent and varied, from older folk to breakdancers, to those that just wanna dance.....so a set that switched it up from King Midas to the likes of The Bamboos, Sharon Jones & Speedometer, worked out nicely. Mostly uptempo, and I think it was a decent snapshot of the early days of Deep Funk, to those latter day 'nu-funk' spins.
