A Night At The Flicks

Just reading another thread and Quadrophenia was mentioned.  I remember seeing this when it came to my local flea pit as part of a double header with Scum.  It got me thinking about when a night at the pictures was just that.  Today you can go and watch a 90 minute film and apart from a few adverts and trailers, that's your lot.  Some of the great double features I went to see in my youth were Dirty Harry followed by Magnum Force, and The Big Boss combined with Way of the Dragon.  Happy days.

Regards,

Barry Norman.

You'll be lucky if you can find a 90 minute film these days. They are all at least two hours, and three hours in lots of cases. It's just too long to be sitting in the cinema, after two hours you're concentrating more on your sore bum than the film :( .

I used to love the cinema, but I've found myself enjoying it less and less because of the length of films, the seating, and the prices.

Used to spend the odd Sunday afternoon after Wigwam ,in the piccies, back when the pubs shut at 2.00pm.

One of the strangest of double headers was Blazing Saddles, followed by Emmauelle..

The Killing of Sister George and Straw Dogs at our local cinema. Went to the very same place Easter Monday to see the water diviner. It was OK but I'm sure it won't be as memorable as the other two. Ade
