45 Sleeves Website

Too bad.  It was a great site.  I, myself. uploaded hundreds of different company record sleeves to a thread on a now-extinct Soul music forum.  Too bad.  I am too old and too busy now to upload them again.  Some of you may have frequented that forum, as well as this one.  It also was a Northern Soul forum, which had mainly British members.  We were referred to THIS forum when they stopped operations

(in 2007, I believe).  And that is when I started posting here again.

and of course there's a long running established gallery on here already if anyone ever needs a place

We've had a few recent mentions on here  about sleeves  and the 45-sleeves.com website.  Is  it now established that the  site  -  for the time being anyway -   is no longer "active",  so to speak?

I've just been on the site and the label information and scans  appear to be no longer accessible on there.

It was established that the owner sadly passed away over a year ago.

Thanks but that was already common knowledge. Was just wondering if someone had taken it over and reactivated it.

I think the whole site is still there on the "Wayback Machine" - just needs a different link.

Try this Click here

The links to the record labels are down the left hand side but you may have to scroll down and across in that window.

Can somebody confirm that that does or doesn't work please. :)

Perfect thanks , that's exactly what I was after , seems to work OK and ,  yes,   you have to scroll across the left hand column to choose the label.

Visited the Wayback Machine site a few hours ago and couldn't access the 45 Sleeves catalogue at all apart from the opening page which sadly states:

"For your information. I am currently prevented from updating and maintaining the web site. I am sorry for the inconvenience".

All that hard earned information and scans built up over many years by an unknown number of contributors........

It just reminds me that sites on the internet aren't as permanent as I always once thought they were.

In todays fast moving world it looks like the good old fashioned printed word (books, magazines etc etc) still have a vital role to play in preserving history.

Lets hope the 45 Sleeves catalogue reappears sometime in the future.

You're right there Derek. I used to post a lot of stuff on Dave Flynn's 'Soul Talk' site. Did my research on numerous subjects & posted the stuff up on his goodly site. Course, I didn't make copies of much of the info I posted there, just gathered the info on scraps of paper, collated it & posted it up.

Lost loads of useful info when the site was discontinued (lots of scans out of old publications like Billboard, US mags & newspapers + other sources).
