Creeping Hard Disc Space Slowly Disappearing ?

Recommended Posts

I have 150Gb of hard disc on my PC and over the last 3 months it's gone from about 105 to 80GB and I really haven't added anything to it. I did a disc clean up and am doing a defrag. Is there a free online diagnostic app that could tell me if there's any hidden junk ? Thanks

I would suggest a larger hard drive.  150GB is small by today's standards, when hard drive size is measured in Terabytes.

I know but we're waiting until we move later in the year before deciding and buying something new. Anyway just found this and already I've freed up about 25+GB :)

I reckon it's all these updates that come out of the blue. My laptop is used for very little more than looking at the internet. Yet hard drive space continuously decreases despite regular clear outs.

Nice geek did you know moment when I clicked on the link, "Absinthe, a green-tinged alcohol with psychoactive (hallucinogenic) properties, was so popular among French citizens in the 1860s that five o’clock was known as “the green hour.”" I meant to reply ages ago, but I'm absinthe minded.

I would do an online virus scan Chris just to rule out anything that`s got in.

There are certain malware programs that are just programmed to continuously write meaningless text files in a hidden location which just fills up the hard drive over a matter of months so worth a scan.

I've found the hidden location.  It's SS Current Affairs.
