Curious about a possible Jamaican pressing

Recommended Posts

Hi there

I have a copy of The Bobbettes - Mr Lee b/ w The Vibrations - My Girl Sloppy on Atlantic which I must have bought for about 10p a couple of years ago. Now, to these ears it's a pretty terrible pop record, but I'm curious about something with the pressing. It seems to be a Jamaican press as it has a vivid purple label that has what looks like an overprint of FG UNDER LICENCE BY (ILLEGIBLE) SOUNDS 15 BELL ROAD KGN. JA

What I'm curious about though is whether or not it was common for Jamaican presses to have a fair bit of text scratched into the runout and who the heck Geovanni Turner Simpson is?

This one has (side A) -DSR ASIDE-2226-MR LEE-GE (love heart) VANNI TURNER SIMPSON

(side B) - DSR BSIDE-2227-MY GIRL SLOOPY-GEOVANNI

Cheers

Jon
