Hi Daved

love the Patrick Adams stuff - loads of goodies amoungst his catalogue ....

Hogwild Defo not me haha

Hey whatsya favourite PAP recording ?

Best tfk

For me probably Florence Miller - The Groove I'm In - P&P and also one of the prettiest labels as well (for that single) and I have always preferred the original P&P version of Four Below Zero - My Baby's Got ESP

Jessie Gould "Out Of Work" [P&P]

Mary Clarke "Take Me Im Yours" [La Shawn]

PAP stands for Patrick Adams Productions and P&P stands for Peter Brown and Patricia Gilyard. It was started way before Patrick Adams came into the picture. Patrick met Peter through Lonnie Johnson of Scorpgemi Records.

Patrick Adams did not do Florence Miller - The Groove I'm In.

How about Caress' cover of Pete Warner's I Just Want To Spend My Life With You from their 1977 self titled LP

Mmmm not sure what happened there ?

A good shout there Ady of Newark and you took the words right out of my mouth with The Caress album and the group version of Pete Warner ,The Caress also includes another vocal to "Ronnie Love " Almeria biggie - which if my memory serves me both versions were played at that infamous WC allnight discotheque   and talking of "Ronnie Love " on Almeria Records don't forget The Magnetic Touch and The Universal Robot Bands versions too...PA goodies!!!

Which shares the intro (at least) with David Martin "You"re Mighty Right" :g:

Love em both

Cheers Paul

Just asked Patrick Adams. This is what he said:

"I have never heard that record before in my life. Sounds like they had access to the original 24trk master, stripped it down and rebuilt a new track over it. I'm speechless"

Then I looked up the producer of David Martin and it's a producer / songwriter / label owner named Jim Porter who actually managed The Eight Minutes!

HURTXCD137 Sources: The P&P Records Soul & Disco Anthology

A broad range of musical styles and beats on that anthology but in truth  little to enthuse the (rare) soul and funk crowd.

Any prospect of a collection concentrating on the soul/funk side of P & P ?

thanks for the info 1978 - will pull out The Eight Minutes album and have a closer listen - I wonder if  Patrick Adams has a discography of his work ?

Any of his  music/product that  was recorded and never actually saw the light of day - i would guess there is 100s of tracks that never made it past this stage ?

PS would love to know who some of the groups consisted of ? Daybreak,Caress, 8 Minutes ,Magnetic Touch ,The Reasons to Live ? etc ...just to mention a few .... the list is endless, are there any photos about of these groups ?  - I recall being told that Daybreak was destined to be released on  the Prelude Records (NYC ) label ? Did it make it to a demo release ?

Certain things couldn't be included due to legal issues and some things that were thought to be P&P owned turned out not be P&P owned. There's almost zero documentation on much of the stuff so this is pretty much the best we could do under the circumstances. Bill Brewster compiled these mainly for the Disco collectors and crate-diggers audiences to be fair......
