Obituaries

Recommended Posts

With so many artists (and friends) passing away, would it no make sense to have an obituaries section specifically for this type of topic?  Maybe someone can do a proper obituary for each artists as well.

Chalky, would you be so kind as to transfer the Funeral arrangement details for Rob Bellars from Freebasing and from Members Shouts to this new section.
Cheers.

moving to feedback as best place for such talk

on artist ones

the two recent ones led me to think about a separate part of the front page news feature for such sad news and will look further this weekender

on friends etc

the recent memorial section we started a couple of years ago after suggestions/requests on here didn't work well at all
I'd say that time has proven its best that members post such sad news as a new thread in the aats forum

by its very nature this is a sensitive subject, and so do feel that its always going to  best that topics/news are member led

had a look at this both from member and also the site view which involves what options are available site wise

the front page news is the ideal place for posting sad news regarding artists

by posting in there, people can add images etc, it also automatically gets exposure on other sites such as twitter plus a forum thread gets auto generated and comments are automatically posted in there and on the article

you can see how the 'news' section already is here

https://www.soul-source.co.uk/articles/news-soul/

we used to be able to 'post' forum posts into the articles but that is no longer available since the upgrade

so I'd say the only way imo things can improve is if members post direct into the news via the top 'add' link

the site can do catch up type summary posts as have just done, but  its far from ideal as it duplicates posts etc

have added a 'breaking news 'link' to the 'add' button that shows at top of  every page

trick be getting members to use it ?

a new 'artist sad news' article category has been  set up

the plan is all previous artist 'sad news' will be moved from the 'soul news' cat into this tomorrow

this will then be  the 'official' place for members posting artist sad news

should work better, hows that sound?

removed a rubbish self promoting  post

we are talking about soul source and members posting sad news regarding artists and friends

if anyone thinks that it is ok to to plug own 3rd party websites on a  support thread on what is a sensitive subject then best you stick to other sites

regards

mike

Hopefully that will work

the majority of the exisitng sad news posts have been moved from soul news into the category

https://www.soul-source.co.uk/articles/soul-artists-sad-news/

the thing now is for members to use the "submit news" feature as that will then post into both that section and the 'forum'

will feature the 'submit news' in a series of high light news posts planned

The obituary features especially in the broadsheets are a great source of information, quite diverse too, though I always preferred it when they were referred to as"Gazette"(doesn't sound as grim).Good idea for a feature.
