Craig W
Just been listening to a couple of Frankie Valli tunes before I go to bed before I get up early for the Sunday boot sale and while listening to I'm gonna change thought about the Italian influence which was quite huge towards a large number of major classic tunes , whether it was by Frankie Valli , Dean Parrish etc, the writing credits Teddy Randazzo etc had a major influence on a lot of the big sounds. What are your favourite sounds or influences from Italian artists or producers. I will be playing I'm gonna change by The Velours at the Connaught on the 29th. Any other suggestions . Sean Hampsey
Rita of Rita & Tiaras was (is) Italian So was Micky Valvano.... the man behind almost 100 Soul classics... Mike & The Modifiers..."I Found Myself" Precisions "If This Is Love" And others with Stevie, Edwin Starr, Clarence Paul, Barbara Lewis (Straighten Up Your Heart) etc He did all the 'footstomp' sounds on the early 'Supremes' classics. Along with his own "For The First Time In My Life" for Jodi-Pat he owned the Mi-Val label (of Joey Delorenzo fame - but that's another story), He passed away in April 2002 One of the best 'Italian Soul Men' Sean Link to comment Social source share
