Guest McSoul Posted October 27, 2015 Share Posted October 27, 2015 Having just started Malta Soul Club a few months ago the word spread around Malta like wildfire. Then after a chance meeting between my co-organiser and a Northern soul fan and ex-deejay in a pub it turns out that it was Mr Drew Garlick who was responsible for putting in motion the awareness that there was no plaque at the Grand Arcade which was built on the site of the old Casino Club in Wigan. Drew contacted a lot of people including Russ Winstanley and began to raise the money via social media to put things right. The result was that a plaque was unveiled to commemorate the existence of the old club, a part of my own past and of countless other who were too young for the Torch and Twisted Wheel. Drew DJed after a 30 year break at our soul night in Malta on 24th October and played some great Northern soul before handing over the decks to John 'Butty' Stewart. John was very impressed and I could say amazed that he was in the presence of the man who was responsible was the plaque in the Grand Arcade. Well done Drew Garlick, hero to many for what he did. Drew is very much a part of the Northern soul scene here in Malta and has an unlimited knowledge of Northern Soul music. We at the Malta Soul Club are very honoured to have him aboard at the start of what we are sure will be a massive scene here in Malta. Link to comment Social source share More sharing options...

Russ Winstanley...Richard Searling.. Dave Evison..
