Dance Scene Or Soul Scene?

Believe it or not, there are more or just as many drugs around now than there were in the 70's but the ridiculous sight of old and middle aged men off their heads on coke is quite disturbing really.  It's all coke and ecstacy.  I don't even go to nighters anymore but I know this and last time I did go I was offered it, I declined.  And as for the dancers today - absolutely not a patch on the dancers of old - the fact they've had to bring back the ridiculous acrobatics to get attention speaks volumes.

As a rule myself and my partner will dance together once during a night not always to something slow, a kinda jive thing at which admittedly we aren't very good but we enjoy, I only know personally of maybe two other couples who dance together also just the once often near the end of a night and not in a smoochy last dance at a wedding way, we all have different ways of enjoying a night and my ONE dance with my partner is integral to mine. That said I would not like to see couples dancing together become the norm .

As to the original question there have been some very valid opinions expressed so for me the Scene is what you want it to be, I don't care whether people dance ,chat, drink scratch their chins  as long as they have respect for the music, their fellow Soul people and enjoy , the bottom line is we are all brought together by the music whether it be top 500 ,rare ,underplayed rnb  whatever though sadly in too many cases what brings up together also too often divides us. I respect the fact you have a problem with couples dancing together , we all have aspects of the scene that annoy us, mine being Pork PIe hats where I happen to think the only place for a Pork Pie is on a plate with a decent relish.

I'll continue with my one dance as is my right  in the certain knowledge that you are not the only one who disapproves but as long as it makes me smile feel free to keep shaking your head it's your right

Agreed Pete. Sure there's lots of artificial stimulants out there, so I hear, and none of it available over the chemists' counters. I put the acrobatics down to youthfulness or an inability to dance well rather than extra helpings of whizz. I always got by on pure adrenalin with a lot of help from the music.

So did I to be honest, never needed anything, still to this day don't know why I eventually did indulge - peer pressure I suppose

i was going to say, as already stated, it must be a dance scene "otherwise why bother going out" but that doesn't work anymore.What with "Youtube", cheap supermarket drink and being able to smoke in your own house, what is the point in going out ??

that is the sad and sorry reality of society in general , people no longer feel the need or have the wherewithal to go out and socialise with their friends and peers . not for me went out last night and just got in from the Grosvenor rooms , cracking night ,great music and some great company, staying in is for losers as far as Im concerned , may as well be in the nick .

I thought I would put the now playing on my Ipod songs its for ever changing Northern, Modern, RNB, unissued suppose its my top current mostly underground 600 as my small ipod dosen't hold that many so its changed over the 2015 period apart from the odd songs that I can't let go & still like to hear on a regular basis.
