The Orwell Friday 29th Sept - Tent Music Special

Steve Plumb

Recommended Posts

As a change, instead of just giving out the blurb for our next shindig at The Orwell, we thought it'd be good to post up a list of tunes that 'might' get played on the night.

Really looking forward to seeing Terry Jones & Andy Davies playing real Tent set's

Any set times yet?

I plan to be down after doing the opening set at Abram Labour Club - especially what time Terry J is on. The proposed set is mouthwatering and has me heading for the shelves so I can learn the words and singalong :-)

I'd love to be able to play to a crowd who appreciate such good tunes - not rare just quality. OK I do to a certain extent slip in the less obvious now and then at Everything's Tuesday but that really is just an extension of my front room

I believe Paddy is doing the opening set - shame that I'll miss it but he'll just have to set up a venue at St. Hilaire and we can all pile down there and have some frommidge and vim to the choons.

Just listening to Teee on Real Love Radio as per usual Sunday night - quality soul.

Hey Gordon

Paddy is doing his 'au revoir' set 8.30-9.30 - not sorted the rest yet BUT TJ & Andy will be doing an early set and a later party set too...........and somewhere in the middle and at the end you will also find Steve Connor, Barry Maleady, Flanny & meself all battling for deck time.

See you Friday

Steve

btw The list of records are just to give a flavour of what 'might' get played, certainly not a proposed set - that would be far to presumptous of me :D:D:D I thought folk may comment on one or two of them but no one has commented as yet :D:ohmy::P

You'd better play 'em all or I will demand a full refund of both beer & entrance money. You have been warned - misrepresentation is a serious offence.

Mr. Angry of Lytham :thumbsup::D

Damn you Plumb - you haven't even listed Oscar Perry.

Speaking to Andy D at Blackburn on Saturday and he is well up for this gig and looking forward to spining some of his lesser known quality tunes collected from his days at Soul Bowl.

Should be a great night if the seesions in the 'Tent' at Fleetwood have been anything to go by...and a bit warmer too! wicked.gif

I'll certainly comment on Get It Outcha System - wonderful real soul music.

Heard Precisions version of "If This Is Love" on t'radio tonight makes me think I'll have to play Millie's version on Friday at Abram. I'm doing 8 till 9 so I think I can get away with a few bits of class the are not designed to fill the floor as the punters chat and get their first drinks in. Hope to get down between 10 and 10.30.

And ZZ's version of Make Me Yours - so rich.

See you Friday

Hi guys,

Had problems on here last night so let's try again...

So can I look forward to any modun tunes on Friday?......just one?... for me?.... :wicked:

Jayne.x.

Hi Jayne

By 'modun' i take it you're talking 2006/7?

As you know we play the odd new thing 'if' it fits in with the traditional 60's/70's/Crossover/Northern thang!

But i think Vince Montana is a given :wicked: (sounds 30 years old anyway!)

Plus i have an answer song to 'Walk away from love' that although 'new' should sound great with all the canvas classics :P

.......plus of course the new version of.................oops, not allowed to say

So yes, there'll be a couple of 'Modern' bits on show

C U tomorrow

Cheers

Steve

Just a quick note to let you know we have Andy Davis & Terry Jones playing 2 sets each tonight! Gives them a chance to play some left fielders early on, we've also got Paddy doing a 'goodbye' set early doors before he heads over to France plus i've got a few bits i want to try out too...............worth getting there early i reckon?

We're also moving upstairs for this one!

If you've been before you know you'll be guaranteed a great night!

If you've never been before we promise you THIS will be special!

Please come and give Andy & TJ your support!

Besides, it's cost us an arm & a leg to tempt them up from 'daan saarf' :shades:
