That was a shock!  What an extraordinary person he was.  You could never imagine him having a normal day and popping down to Tesco for some beers.

RIP Ziggy....

This is the type of stuff I love him for, his Mod days. Never a fan when growing up in the '70s but once I discovered his '60s stuff I really did 'dig' him!

Speechless. This is the fanzine I used to publish.  Can't think of anything else to say at the moment :-(

Big shock hearing the news today. Grew up with his music and always remember the  iconic album covers of Diamond Dogs and Pin ups. One of those artists who moved with the times and wrote and sung  great songs. Will be missed R.I.P "The White Duke"

Just listened to "Quicksand", what a song that is, probably more apt than ever.

Not a huge fan either but I did like some of his songs. Definitely one of the greats in contemporary music and someone who battled many demons in his life.

Absolutely shocked, a creative soul who mastered reinvention and IMO was way ahead of his time both for his music and style ..

Love this live clip of Young Americans with Luther Vandross on back up vocals and David Sandborn on sax ...

A true icon and original. Part of the soundtrack of my youth, along with Marc Bolan/T.Rex especially first year at grammar school 72-73.  Great memories. and so many "time and place" songs.

Yes, the Thin White Duke had a thing for Romy Haag  :-)

His passing made me sad unlike most prominent death cases.

If I had to pick a really soulful favourite tune by him it might be "Word on a Wing" from "Station to Station", recorded in 1975. You can feel the pain he was going through trying to get away from self-inflicted hell in LA back to Europe.

RIP Old Genie

Seems a shame to leave it here, some of his finest words hidden in interviews, a great artist, campaigner and gentleman.
