Just to invite the 'are you insane' type comments I remember hearing 'Ain't Nothing But A Houseparty' for the first time in about 1981 at the Barrel Organ in Birmingham and being convinced that it was a Motown record.

How about Chairmen of the Board - Give me just a little more time. To me sounds like a pure 60s winning formula Motown tune with a slight early 70s touch (no surprise as it's a HDH tune)

Always thought that the Radiants- I'm glad I'm the loser - Chess, was a Four Tops soundalike attempt  as is, at least to these ears, the Sensations - Lonely world  on Way Out

No one mentioned the Platters 60's tracks (for Musicor) yet ?

I know lots of their 60's LP cuts used pre-recorded Detroit backing tracks but other tracks ("With This Ring", "Washed Ashore", etc. ) are very Motown influenced without being too Motown connected.

The alternate B side of Justin's Down East 45 (not the cut that was on the other US & the UK 45) sounds just like a 60's 4 Tops track.

Interesting how some Motown cuts don't even have the trademark Funk Brothers sound, listen to most tracks by the Monitors (with a few exceptions) they don't have the 'Motown Sound' which leads me to think they were recorded at perhaps Wingate Sound or another studio after Berry bought this studio.

There are thousands maybe tens of thousands of sounds what sound like Motown,You could fill a book with them on all kinds of Labels and recorded in different cities all over the USA.The Motown Sound in the 1960's was a great innovative genre of music but there were other great recordings from other labels and studios running parallel with Motown producing great sounds.As Regards The Invictus label and it's sounds it was the end of the 1960's and I always though was an extension of Motown carrying on similar sounds into the early 1970's using some of the same staff that Motown used in those great years, but there are subtle differences what NS would notice in all the soundalikes what the man of the street wouldn't notice.

Hi Robbk, Might have missed your points. would like to know what the eight elements are that you discuss. 

Also what if it was a 6T's West Coast recording, would these be counted??
