Scotters
No idea but looks like someone was prepared to pay just over $3000 for one on eBay last year! Wouldn't mind hearing it, looks like some prison project or something given the full name "Charles Smith And S.C. Department Of Correction Blazons"? Scotters
Thanks. Interesting then as that label looks completely different to the one that sold on ebay last year on "Music World" label? Link to comment Social source share
Corbett80
I've been wondering what this 45 was about since seeing that listing too. Is this the same Charles Smith as on Trend? I'm guessing probably not. Preview is all the Rod Keith stuff? Edited April 20, 2016 by corbett80 Link to comment Social source share
Kev Cane
The reason it will have fetched 3000 dollars is because the flip "My love is true" is an awesome record, coveted by many of the Sweet Soul collectors in Califs Kev Link to comment Social source share

Blackpoolsoul
A record under the sponsorship of South Carolina "department of correction", first appearing on "Music World" records. As Charles E. Smith and the Department of Correction Blazons", then it amazingly surfaced on a "vanity" label from California. A label that came up with the concept of putting your "Poems or Lyrics" to music, for a fee. The Preview label 6311 Yucca Street, Hollywood released multiple very low-run "vanity" 45's some of which became Northern Grails.. Several of Rod Keith's releases are the perfect example. The styles were wide ranging, from Country, Pop, R&B and Soul with one thing in common they are all rare. So quite why Charles E. Smith and His Department Of Correction Blazons, would appear on this label is a complete mystery. The Preview label in their wisdom adjusted the artist credit from, "His Department Of Correction Blazons" to "The New Coronets Band". Every 45 on the "Preview" label was a low run, commercial exercise, for this concept label, that aided writing "talent" to enter the record release market.. https://www.songpoemmusic.com/labels/preview.htm Edited May 13, 2019 by Blackpoolsoul Link Link to comment Social source share
