Not that Im aware Peter! MFP/Motown album only I think. I have one in ex cond

Yes the box set is an official release but was album only up until that point - thanks John and Ernie for replying.

Motown is now a part of universal music group who seem to own everything

There is one on a green demo lookalike which has the instrumental on the flip. There are some great budget albums with unreleased stuff, like isley brothers on starline which has four unreleased tracks

 

All time favourite Motown track btw ☺

I saw it written by Pep (I think) that it was played at the Catacombs before Wigan opened. I think the album was released in 1972, the Cats closed in 74, so highly likely, although that was the era of 100 mph stompers.
I think it truly became the Monster it is now at the original Bretby Country Club, when was that, earlier 90's ? about 25 years ago maybe?

I`ve had the MFP album since the early 70`s. A track which I was oblivious to until the 90s.

Hiya, yep bretby was where I first heard it getting spins, great record and agree those cheapo albums have some great tracks, ' jimmy Ruffin album has a couple of great tracks 'kicking stones and born to be bad'. Cheers

I wonder how it went down at the catacombs, as to me it would have been a record ahead of it's time in the early 70's with that kind of arrangement, perhaps this was the reason it was never released when it was originally recorded, it just did'nt fit with the musical style of  60's motown.

It's a fantastic 'summer' song, I love it.

When it first surfaced on a 45, it was one track on one of those white label E.P's with other unissued Motown tracks, it plays at 331/3 actually...was a boot, so not an official release, but was the first time on a 7.
