ebay spat makes headlines

I fail to see any humour in this at all. A very sad indictment of the general lack of brains by the police.

And what happened with the buyer and the transaction in the end?

I agree it isn't funny and a huge waste of tax payers money over something where the buyer was clearly in he wrong. Should have been a simple resolution case for eBay/PayPal.

Could have been deadly serous given the health concerns.

He should have insisted on having a solicitor present, even the duty solicitor would have had him out in minutes, it's farcical.

And now he should sue the arse off them!!

About time it actually meant something to serve the public and be proud to wear the  uniform.

I'm sure he has grounds to sue, but it's a slippery path unless you get a whacking great pay-out and can afford to change your identity and move.  Some of them have long memories and can be sore losers.

Funny in the sense that some idiot has picked up the phone to the police and got them to fight his cause. What is even more hilarious is that they actually did something about it.

I had some guy threaten me with this from the US as he didnt want to pay the full price to get 80 reggae tunes sent to him. Also had some UK bloke threaten to call trading standards when something on my discogs site had sold elsewhere over the weekend. There are some crazy fools around but Mr Dinky Toy takes the hob nob.

I agree and he most likely is. But the point is my eldest son applied to join the "Service" about 8 years ago and was refused because of the Celtic band around his arm. If you look closely you`ll see he has neck tats and one on the back of his head.

Very worrying. Plod has obviously overreacted. There must be a few worried record dealers waiting for a knock on the door now... Would like to see the Feedback  made by the seller?.

Another "brilliant" example of the Police Farce that is Police Scotland!!! The catalogue of errors/stuff-ups etc just keeps growing.

There must be no real crime up there if they have the resources to send two officers out to his home address, escort him to the copshop, interview and DNA test him for £16 worth of old Dinky toys.

So  Dinkyman made six complaints. and only three were upheld. I'm guessing relating to his treatment in custody rather than the actual offense. (Denied access to lawyer, denied medication, left to make his own way home).  The other three, which I'm guessing related to his arrest were dismissed.

What's the big deal? I'm no fan of the police (generally) but he in effect stole this guy's  money. No doubt he eventually gave it back which is why the case closed.

He's complaining about huge sums of money being wasted on a situation that he in effect caused. or at least could have easily remedied.

The fact that he actually went to the paper with this load of nonsense speaks volumes.  Obviously only a very foolish person gets on the wrong side of Mr Dinkyman.  :g:

So he has to pay the postage himself, that's bollocks, the postage is usually there in black and white on an ebay listing and no doubt combined postage for the three was less than having them sent separately, so the buyer should have been happy, but no he decides he doesn't want to and goes and tells a policeman, what a complete arsehole he must be.  The buyer is the one that the police should now arrest for wasting police time.  The chap selling the dinky toys is right to go to the papers at least he'll get some money for it which is a lot better than suing the police and being hassled by them for the rest of his life for doing it.

This story is so full of holes you could drive a bus through it.

A fine example of the worst tabloid journalism (and I use that term loosely) lets go for the headline grabbing big splash and stuff the back story we're not interested in it.

Must admit I am mildly curious into the background of this story. Only very mildly though...
