Too many great '60s unreleased cuts to choose just one:

1) A Tear from A Woman's Eye - Temptations

2) Suspicion-Originals

3) Crying In The Night-Monitors

4)Baby, Hit and Run-Contours

5) All I Do (Is Think About You)-Tammi Terrell

6)Tears, Nobody and a Smile-Serenaders

7)Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde-Versatones

8)All I Have Left are Memories-Sammy Turner & Serenaders

9)On The Avenue-Jimmy Ruffin

10)Absent Minded Lover-Kim Weston

Thatt's just Motown, and I've probably forgotten many others.

There are many great Chicago Soul songs that were recorded in the '60s and not released during the vinyl era.

Mostly Butch spins for me plus one courtesy of Dave Thorley which is a monster:

(1) Jean Carter - I Wanna Know (unissued Decca acetate - I think?)

(2) 'Just Brothers' - Go On And Laugh (now known to be the Sharpees and soon to come out via Mark Bicknell and Secret Stash)

(3) Jesse James - Love Is Alright (unissued Harthon acetate)

(4) The Sherries - World Of Happiness (another Harthon job I believe). Butch's stripped down unissued version rather than the Ann Robinson version with all the strings and stuff

(5) Neil - Hideaway (big for DT for some time now - just f#*king brilliant and raw)

So many treasures have been unearthed this way; it's really helped to keep the scene alive and old codgers like me still interested.  I think the one that absolutely stopped me dead in my tracks was the first time I heard Maxine Brown's Torture.  Probably over-played and done to death now, but boy that record has everything!  I wonder how Ady felt the first time that tape got loaded and played.  Must have been exquisite.

Wasn't "Rat Race" released on Perfecta or ATAC in the '70s?

Not the best or the most "northern" but every time I hear it plunge me back to that day I attended the 100 Club and that gentlemen Ady spinned his RCA tape discoveries. While dancing my ears were eating every single note of that very singular soul "floater" by Sharon Scott '(putting my heart under) lock and key'...

Robb, All I Have Left are Memories - Sammy Turner & Serenaders, I have that listed as the Fascinations. Was it one of the Jobete Acetates you never bought?

Kirsty

It was a Jobete Music acetate with no artist listed (none of them do), which I found in The Motown Vaults in 1976.  I labeled it "The Fascinators" just as a placeholder.  I never dreamed that it was Sammy Turner.  We found that out later, from a recording log.  Most of the unreleased acetates (both Motown and Jobete) I had while at Motown.  I didn't "take any ªas other Motown workers did), and I never bought any, once they were auctioned off.  So, I have none now.

There was a Fascinators group in Detroit, who had releases on Your Copy Records in 1953, and Blue Lake Records in 1954.  Originally, I had thought that The Fascinators on Bombay Records were derived from that group, as Detroiter Mike Hanks, was one of their main producers, and I lived in Chicago, and had never seen The Fascinators appear.  But, we later found out that the Bombay group was totally from Chicago.  In any case, I just used The Fascinators' name as a placeholder, as I used The Creations for "Say, Say Baby", before we knew The Serenaders recorded that.

It was played by Andy Rix and Rob Thomas for a few years. The present owner is on SS. I'm off for a few days and will put part of the track up when I return for you unless I get messaged by the present owner.

What a great thread this is.  Loads here that I don't recognise, but here's some that get me out there.

Martha Jean Love – Old Time Lover / That's The Way The Story Goes

Jean Carter – I Wanna Know

Just Brothers – Go On And Laugh

Diane Lewis – You Ain't Got A Chance

Mighty Lovers - ???

Chuck Jackson - ??? (Butch and Kitch play this)

Esther Grant (?Norma Jenkins) – Here I Am

Love Is The Answer – played by Arthur Fenn from an unissued LP

Demures – I Wanna Be Good To You

Gerri Grainger – Why Can't It Be Tonight

Holly Maxwell – 3 Strikes (think that's the title, Ady plays it at the 100 Club)

Kae Williams – Our Love Is Dying

Kenny Lewis – Not The Marrying Kind

and one that has been issued but always got me on my feet at Scenesville:

Brenda Holloway – Crying Time

I'm sure there are plenty I've missed, sad that some of these will never be available on vinyl or CD but it makes going out to soul nights and allnighters really important if we want to hear tunes of this quality.
