Classic bikes rather than cars are my thing these days. Latest project is a 1972 H1 500 two stroke, Better know as the 'Widowmaker' for it amazing performance but comedy brakes and handling.

The hole in the Ozone layer over Cheshire just got a bit bigger......

Great! Some lovely stuff to drool over, would love to drive around in/on every piece in the thread, they're all lovely and great diversity, congrats everyone, there's nowt I don't like in this game, just love the enthusiasm that comes along with owning old bangers!

I took the Maestro to a couple of body repair shops to get a quote for some minor damage, it immediately becomes the centre of attraction, one bloke, "Oh I've got a 1974 Ford Capri, fully restored" after a hour chat.................. One bloke came to see damage and said "Ah a Maestro" yer another half hour chin-wag. We're off to this tomorrow :thumbsup:

Yeah, one of the things in the game is being able to talk the talk, you gotta know your stuff in the classics game, often you have no book to consult, may be required to work on vehicles you've never even seen or heard of (hence the rank of 'Junkyard genius') also you have to be willing to give time up out of your day to engage with enthusiasts (customers) about their vehicle...

I love showing 'em the cutting out, panel making and welding part of the process!

At the cutting out stage you can guarantee the reaction... Always shocked silence, coupled with me saying 'It has to get ugly before it gets pretty!'

What was that recruitment saying the Police used in the 70s?... 'Dull it isn't'.

Here's a few pictures of my 1968 Dodge Charger, this car is a real survivor having been in the UK since 1971, the car was yellow originally and had the standard 318ci small block V8, then one of the previous owners fitted a 383ci ( 6.2 litre) big block sometime in the 1980's and had the car resprayed green, I bought the car in 1999 having just about given up on one coming up for sale in my price range. I eventually had the car painted black as the car's original numbers matching engine has long gone. :hatsoff2:

hahaha sweet.

If I'm not mistaken, this car was resurrected from a dead shell imported by Martin Membry via Julian from Holyhead (who later ripped us off of've a GTX shell from Fort Lauderdale florida.) The car was originally commissioned by Gaz Bailey, it was a rotten old shell and I personally put in a lot of hours at the oxy-acet gun on this very car.

Gaz owned it early 8ts and I did keele allniter in it several times while I did extensive welding to it (including the excellent job I did of the panel behind the rear windscreen) while it was still sporting a very heavily breathing 318, it was column change as a 318 with a bench seat, pretty certain I took the bench out and put the two seats in. It went thru it's 440 stage before being more correctly matched with a 383.

I'm a trade insider I knew every decent yank back in them days, nowadays I'm a series 1 lanny guru but back in the days of the cold-war I was in yanks mate trust me, if it is this one, this car has been seen at Keele Northern soul allniter deffo!

You sir, have had some nice yanks!

Pulled the 64 vette out to swop over with the 63 for winter - put WD 40 (other oil is acceptable) on the bumpers , and spinners, cat litter in a tray internally as well as some moisture bags - cling film on the rubber where the hood clips down on the back to stop marks - all ready for the next few months

Well here are a few pictures of another one of my Old Bangers, it's a 1955 Cadillac Series 62 Two Door Hardtop with a 331ci V8 Auto.

The car was imported in 1998 buy a fella in London and eventually sold on to a chap in Norfolk who I bought the car off in 2004. 

 The car was originally light green with a white roof, and then resprayed pink by the previous owner he wanted the exact pink that was used on the 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood that Elvis Presley bought for his mum, which these days is on display at Gracelands. His plan was to use the car for weddings etc but lost interest and so put it up for sale,  I didn't buy it with doing weddings in mind I liked the style of the 55 Caddy and this was the first 55 I had seen come up for sale in the Country.                   I did end up using it for weddings as I couldn't keep turning down the business as there wasn't a car like it here in Sunny Dorset at the time. :hatsoff2::hatsoff2::hatsoff2:

Sounds like you had the 1600cc with twin Webers, if that's the case then yes a basket case. I have the later 2.0EFi a much more reliable car.

Thank you very much Chris. I have done well with the weddings in general, not so busy in the last couple of years though.                                                                             Not a problem so far getting spares chris there are plenty of Cadillac parts firms in the States, and it's surprising what you can get hold of in the country.

Bruv, you have very good taste in American cars, everybody knows a Muzzie or a charger but the 69 Coronet, my all time fave of the muscle car era e-bodies, I once restored a 70 Coronet Superbee for a guy, the 70 not as sweet a vintage as the 69, of course as you know this is the Plymouth GTX platform, one of, if not the, most elegant car every to come out of the states, a 383 too, very nice, not a hybrid 440 cu but the correct 383 SuperBee, you win the thread!

Thank you very much, I am lucky to own the SuperBee, I only originally went to view it for the fact it was quite a rare Muscle Car for someone to own here in Dorset and so naturally wanted to see it, I kept in touch with the owner and out of the blue he rang me offering me the car as he wanted it to go to a good home. If it wasn't for the fact that at the time I was doing so many wedding jobs with the pink car, I couldn't have justified it or come to that afforded it.

Hi Bruv, thought you'd like to see this if you haven't already. It's the Mustang Milano concept, it was never mass produced as a commercial model, as you will see they did use a lot of design cues for the Boss Mustangs and the later Mach 1 wedge mustangs, look at the Dodge inspired mouth and the lines of the fastback, a lot of the design cues were used by Shelby on the KR500 series of Cobra mustangs...

Thought it was worth sharing as not many enthusiasts know about this model, big shame they never released this car as a production model, what do you reckon? Although you probably think like I do that nothing is better than a Mopar!

Thought I would upload my brother in law's Defender in Oz. It's ex Australian army 20 odd years old.

He has the flags on the back cos' she's Canadian and he's Scottish, It has Ammo boxes in the rear with speakers in them. Sounds great!

  I found these pictures of a pals 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that he bought of your friends at Blues Brothers Autos, do you remember it, I think he's owned it getting on ten years now.

I have a 1991 110 FFR arctic winterised with a 200TDi in it in my collection.

Currently building this ex-mil series 2, check out that bulkhead for invisible welding repairs!

No, it's twenty odd years since I worked for them I was there at the start of them making the transition from a hobby that got out of hand to becoming a business,, been living here in Cornwall twenty years now, really miss them terribly, must get in touch next time I'm up there, see Duncan more because of the family connection. Lovely wedge though!

Here's a few pictures of another of my American cars, It's a 1962 Imperial LeBaron four door Hard Top fitted with a 413ci (6.9 litre) V8 push button Auto.

 I bought this car off a Hot Rod shop in Hampshire in early 2007 the car was imported in 1990 and then for some reason it was dry stored from 1991 to 2007 when I came across it. The car was pretty well rust free but needed a fresh paint job and a good paint and clean up in the engine bay, a friend resprayed the car for me in 2010 in African Ivory which is close to the original factory colour.

The Imperial was for many years Chyrsler's flag ship car going up against  GM's Cadillac and Ford's Lincoln. :hatsoff2:

Here's a couple of pictures of my most modern American car it's a 1994 Ford Mustang GT  4.9 Litre V8 with Automatic transmission. 

  As much as I love the big old barges I wanted something more practical that I could use more often, and still be driving a yankee car! :):hatsoff2:
