Jim G
I had never seen a picture of Mr Flood's Party (well I wasn't looking for one!) anyway, stumbled across this on ebay, this is them in 1991. Frankie Crocker
'Compared To What' is such a cracking tune. Also a great reply to someone who remarks such and such a song is rubbish, just say 'compared to what' and that usually shuts them up. 3 Link to comment Social source share

Tattoodave
Looks like two different line-ups, apart from the one sporting a hat. The dress code of the first lot looks too contemporary, compared to the 70's vibe the second lot lave going on, plus a member short, though post Sunday lunch my eyes might be deceiving me. 1 Link to comment Social source share
grantdyche
They took their name from a poem by Edwin Arlington Robinson called "Mr Floods Party" https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems-and-poets/poems/detail/44979 1 Link to comment Social source share

Mike
love the lie and lie the love A-hangin’ on, with push and shove Possession is the motivation That is hangin’ up the goddamn nation Looks like we always end up in a rut (everybody now!) BAM! Tryin’ to make it real — compared to what? 1 Link to comment Social source share
Airfixkid
This record is another band with same name, they are ALT-Rock and from Canada. The band photo is from the Cotillon album which is pysch rock ? I am not 100% convinced thats the same group as on compared to what either. 1 Link to comment Social source share

Tomangoes
And for a soulful twist........Look out for Roberta Flacks version! Appropriate lyrics in the Trump Era. What goes around, eh? "Compared To What" Love the lie and lie the love Hangin' on, with a push and shove Possession is the motivation That is hangin' up the God-damn nation Looks like we always end up in a rut (everybody now!) Tryin' to make it real - compared to what? Slaughterhouse is killin' hogs Twisted children killin' frogs Poor dumb rednecks rollin' logs Tired old ladies kissin' dogs Hate the human, love that stinking mutt (I can't stand it!) Try to make it real - compared to what? The President, he's got his war Folks don't know just what it's for Nobody gives us rhyme or reason Have one doubt, they call it treason We're chicken-feathers, all without one gut (God damn it!) Tryin' to make it real - compared to what? (Sock it to me, now) Church on Sunday, sleep and nod Tryin' to duck the wrath of God Preacher's fillin' us with fright Tryin' to tell us what he thinks is right He really got to be some kind of nut (I can't use it!) Tryin' to make it real - compared to what? Where's that bee and where's that honey? Where's my God and where's my money Unreal values, crass distortion Unwed mothers need abortion Kind of brings to mind ol' young King Tut (He did it now) Tried to make it real - compared to what?! 1 Link to comment Social source share

But I thought the psch / horn-rock group on Cotillion were deffo the same one that did 'CTW?' Link to comment Social source share
