Eddie Billups Shorty Billups

Just thinkin' 'bout the man when I saw the earlier version of "Shake off that dream" in a dealer's list today. Stated that Eddie and Shorty are the same person as I red in an old post, I was wonderin' if it's true (as was stated in the aforementioned post) if Eddie (or Shorty? ) was sometime usin' his brother's name to give a boost to his singin' career? Anymore info regardin' the relations with the two borthers?

Another thing I would like to know it's the relation between the issues of the later mix (the funkiest one), that came out on Garpax and Solid Gold (the latter is the one I own). Regional version? One is licensed from the other?

4 issues for this. The first one from 1973 with the "rawer" mix on local Helpp and then for national distribution on Seventy 7 and in 1977 with the funky slapping bass both on Solid Gold (own owned label I understand) and then on Gar-Pax for national distribution. Name changes of the guy from Shorty, Eddie BILLIPS, BILLUPS or Eddie OWENS...

Also a 12" release too & that's probably the scarcest of the lot.

He told me that he so believed in the song that he kept pushing it, on different labels, for many years!

Although I was playing it soon after it's 77 release, in the 70's we were unaware of the Hellpp release until 10+ years after.

It was a true Holy Grail for ages, but the internet has spawned a few copies in recent times (though still a pretty rare record).
