still think Bobby King if you dont want my love is a quality tune only ever seen one 7" single of this cheap on the album but rare as hens teeth on 7"

Yes its a cracking record isn't it. I'm pretty sure that I picked up a seven from somewhere in the last few years - I cold well be mistaken as I havent a clue what I have on my sheleves. I really ought to get sorted.

Great thread Sean. I hope all is well with you mate.

another great tune, heard on the street that even the boots/re issues are dog rare, never mind originals

I think the wonderful Ian Clark had the only copy back then..and possibly Dave Thorley , maybe..? Certainly the only djs around at that time who would play something like this. I believe one or two copies turned up in a box of records sent from the US and then no one could trace who had made it. I don't think the ones that emerged in the 90s are bootlegs.

I've played this out over the last few years, also spun on new years eve at diff strokes by mr Haydon, I think, seems to be rising in demand again.

Think I remember Sam playing Cate Brothers - Where can we go - covered up as Anderson Bros early 80's at Cleethorpes Winter Gardens - remember buying a copy still covered up from Rob Smith.

Adam

Certainly was covered up as Anderson Brothers, Adam.

I have it in my memory as a Poke tune, but we were all on it once it was uncovered.

Years ago I swapped another record for the Cate Brothers...............................and immediately dropped it. Chipped the run in groove - playable if you miss the first few seconds but would be almost uncueable in a dark room. They were a white folky group weren't they?

Doh!

3 and 4 coming up mate.

Yes Chalks, you're right.

Only Vol 1 are almost totally forgotten. The others are more of a retrospective with many that have endured to this day!

Sean

Thanks for these Sean . I was too young for these days much to my regret! Fabulous records and 2 volumes to play whilst filing 45s and cleaning the house on Thursday! Fair few gone on the infinite wants list too.
