Warren

Greetings Warren

It's Classic allright;

-to me the key to it's "suspension of disbelief"

was that it was a future with a past;

i.e -not everything was new.

the proof of how much they got right is all around us;

in the form of backstreet technology,

& the self-taught advising government agencies on security.

anyway :rolleyes:

I reckon

if mr Tyrrell really knew anything about life;

-he would've told Rutger Hauer:

"So,

you want more life,

do you son?

-ditch the leather mac,

sort out you're bleached hair &,

get your humanoid arse down to the

London Bridge Allnighter,

Then,

do the 100 club,

then we'll discuss more life on Sunday"

:P

& to think people tell me i'd make a good father :lol:

-Must say i'm Bloody excited about this line-up!

& Warren not one person has asked me which Warren yet. :lol:

If you 2 would only watch the film once you

would have more time to look for nu tunes.

watching it once is just a tease,

-same way it's impossible to eat just 1 pistachio nut

Its got to be The Forbidden Planet for me
rolleyes.gif

-diffrent strokes! :yes:

think I know the words to

The Rocky Horror Picture Show Better

if you like a Horror Show,

-walk down Upper st at the week-end ....scary! :D

:(

Which Warren is it? :(

:D

Beatty wink.gif

Getting the flyers out last week-end

got great feedback on this line-up;

got loads of people coming in from abroad

also good to see,

everyone who's been loves the venue,

big dancefloor,

big sound....

yes...

Main Room R&B!

Talking of new tunes, I just got a great Don Gardner record that your lyrics would go with perfectly.

Can't make my mind up for the better side Dark Alley or Up The Street on Junior 394 more from his days with Jimmy Smith.

If I am DJin first I will play both sides.

1960's R&B ALL NIGHTER

Might seem like a dumb question, but will it be strictly R&B Soul?

I ask 'cos I'm bringing some friends over who are more into white psyche, freakbeat, garage etc; they also like the black stuff, but not a whole night of it (whatever's wrong with 'em? :( ) would be pushing it. we are doing to 100 club on the saturday, so I don't want to overdo it...

apart from the mousetrap all-nighters (not on that w/e) are there any other clubs in london that cater to both tastes?

as I said, probably a dumb question... :(

Rob Bailey and Ady C have put together a few things at the Rocket which included a psyche/freakbeat/garage room but I'm not sure if at the last one it became a modern room.

right. I wouldn't have had any doubts years ago, but I attended a new untouchables/soundsofunity&love weekender in gij³n, northern spain. there were two floors.

'white' & 'black'. I thoroughly enjoyed myself in both rooms. I guess I should see a doctor. :thumbsup:

I got the clear the impression that over here on 'the continent', the twain do actually mix & very nicely too. no political baggage to contend with. the R&B room was sooo steamy so an escape from time to time into the large 'white' hall was a question of necessity.

I found myself transfixed with nubile go-go dancers on tables thrashing to the velvet underground 'what goes on' & the like... send for the green van...

Hello Macca

Jos got a point.

I gather from

your post

there were two floors.

'white' & 'black'. I thoroughly enjoyed myself in both rooms. I guess I should see a doctor. :D

that it was

nubile go-go dancers on tables

that had you transfixed,

perhaps more than the music?

would it have made much difference what was played? :thumbsup:

-here's a suggestion

give 'em a call (hope you got their numbers),

get them

nubile go-go dancers
dancing to R&B for the best of worlds :lol:

P.S.

in my professional opinion,

I think this is a common,

(if false) Dilemma;

don't worry......

(with all respect)

I don't think it's a doctor that you need.

:D

seriously though,

in this case i don't think it's so much a case of politics,

rather than different sounds.

I play some tunes by white artists,though

usually find they're on "black" labels

As it's often not just about the Voice,or,

arrangement, but the sound engineer

(black,white,or otherwise)

getting the right "sound"

-a question of "quality control"

and if i'm honest about it,

i've heard so many "white" records ruined because

it sounds like the sound engineer has cloth ears;

or more likely,blind drunk.

(alcohol seriously impairs your hearing of high frequencies,

-that's my personal theory of why most "rock" sounds so ear-bleedingly trebley;

-the "traditional" bottle of JD sat by the mixing desk)

having said that;

there are many notable exceptions.

-glad to say i've been losing many prejudices in my old age,

(to a large degree,thanks to Tony Smith2,who has some incredible

Beat & Garage...as well as the R&B and Soul;

Black,White & all shades in-between)

Though I much prefer R&B and 60s Soul.

I know there is a demand for both mixed

& separate events.

-even the R&B Taleban :yes:

now where are those go-go-dancers?

As for sound quality the medium taken to the pressing plant can range from mono tape mix to acetate, The Four Tops needed to have a record in the charts so the sound guy and producer worked allnight to get a mix done,(or there bolloxs were for the chop) cut the acetate and lost the master, Where Did You Go and Ask The Lonely.

Got a record on Prophonics related records and you can hear the backing track played on speakers behind the voice to give that live sound, a nice version of the Horace Ott track We'Re Doing Fine 2025.

How's about that guy's and gall's Jim mixed it for you!

Evening folks!

For anyone attending the already legendary London Bridge RnB Allnighter this Friday 8th December there are good news!

Find it's too cold waiting outside the doors, over-excited and almost wetting your pants with anticipation of what is to come? Want to go to an allnighter for only £5?

Come to Jacks, where the actual allnighter is held! :thumbsup:

In the room next door, myself and special guest MichaelJ, will be spinning 60's Soul, RnB, Ska, Jazz etc, the broader spectrum for your warming up pleasure.

We open at 8, go on until 10 maybe later then it's moving on into the main room when it opens!

So for a measly £5 you will have access not only to the warm up do, but also the main event! Isn't that nice?

It's short notice but we just got the go-ahead.

See you all on Friday.

Will be absolutely brilliant for sure!

Marcus
