Please move and apologies if it's in the wrong area!

Interested in hearing early David Ruffin...before the Temptations and Motown!

Thank you!

Wild Honey - david ruffin - motown

From WHO I AM...recorded from my vinyl LP...I had to cut it short unfortunately because it was very scratchy at the end...thank goodness that Hip-O-Select reissued this recently (The Motown Solo Albums Vol. 2)!

I've just tried to sell a British Demo of Heavy Love, from the album Who am I, on Ebay starting price £1.99 and no takers!

:(

Do you happen to have a scan of that? My copy of WHO AM I is very scratched up due to relying on incompetant (sp) folk to help me move! That's one of my favorite cuts on the album!

Hi Maverick,

What are the unreleased tracks like on this CD? Did you get the "David" one from a couple of years ago?

Cheers Paul

Hi Paul!

I have the UNRELEASED CD and I enjoy it, especially love OUT IN THE COUNTRY!

Vol.2 is on rotation in my CD player...I haven't gotten past the WHO AM I recordings as of yet!

Vol.1 I still play...I love the 60s albums!

The unreleased tracks on DR Vol.2...it's a wonder why these weren't released in the first place! The lyrics and titles seem to be autobiographical...when I get time I will upload them here!

WHICH WAY TO MY BABY was also covered by Dennis Edwards and MANNEQUIN by the Temptations with Paul on lead.

You may check out his 45s on Anna "I`m In Love/One Of These Days" and Checkmate "Mr. Bus Driver - Hurry" "Action Speaks Louder Than Words"

A bit spooky, I just put up a copy of "Mr. Bus Driver - Hurry!" on eBay for auction. There are label scans and sound clips if you'd like to hear it. A bit scratchy, but it plays decent. Check it out:

Roger...great clip! The second one says that it's no longer available.

Hi

You're right, It was OK yesterday when I posted the link.

It has been removed in the last few hours.

That is the second time "Walk Away From Love" has been removed,

Shame, they were both great clips.

However, I've found another, which should work this time.

Cheers Cunnie I will be relisting soon. I was suprised It didn't get a bid when at the same time I sold other Motown discs which I thought were inferior to this. I never get tired of hearing David Ruffin tracks.

As promised...

Fine as David's version is, Faith Hope and Charity's original 1973 version on Sussex mashes it to a pulp IMO. But Ruffin and Van McCoy was a musical match made in heaven and the albums they made together are among the best of either man's career...

However, for my money, David's best solo recording is "I Saw You When You Met Her" from the "Me And Rock 'n' Roll Are Here To Stay" album. Best listened to with all razorblades and knives hidden away....

Haven't heard FHC version, but I have heard the same! And yes, David and Van were a perfect match! From ROCK N ROLL, my favorite has got to be NO MATTER WHERE!

Love this photo of them!

Hi guys, on the subject of early David Ruffin. Just bought a copy of "Action speaks louder than words" on Check-mate on E-bay the other day, but the flip is "Hurry Mr Bus driver" ??? It's a white label, 1003. Have I been booted? Seller says it's original U.S pressing.

Marc Forrest> Great set at 100 Club last weekend by the way! :D

You also mentioned Action/Hurry earlier in this thread. Can you shed any light?

Manship has it up with "You Can Get What I Got" on the flip but that's not a white label.

I'm confused... :D

Thanks for any help!

Marcus

HI

Yes, the Soul Train clip was awesome, shame they deleted It.

There was also a brilliant Version of "I Couldn't Believe It" by David Ruffin & Eddie Kendricks that was also removed recently.

Home now, have checked my copies.

1003 - Action Speaks Louder Than Words / You Can Get What I Got

1010 - Mr Bus Driver Hurry / Knock You Out (With Love)

If I remember right the bootleg has a beveled edge (Looks like an 80's pressing) probably aimed at the Beach Scene in the States
