Geoff Posted October 25, 2017 Share Posted October 25, 2017 He certainly had a good innings, 89 years old. One of the most successful rhythm and blues artistes and a pioneer of rock'n'roll. First hit in 1949/50 with The Fat Man followed by loads of others, many now standards in both R&B and R&R. I remember hearing and liking his records when I was at school: I'm Ready, Be My Guest, I Want To Walk You Home, Walking To New Orleans and these are the first to spring to mind.
