I can't live without Jerry Hall - Can I Run To You (the version with the good drums)and I would be willing to pay more than market price to get it. So if anybody out there has a copy and would like to sell I'm here waiting....

Desperately

I think it's Gerri Hall? The better version is indeed better. It is strange how this record sounds as if it was swaying due to being played very off center. Last copy I saw went for £600, which is quite a lot IMO.

That's the one. My ability to remember names continues to elude me.

I'd be more than happy to £600 for the better version. So if anybody has a copy, and thinks that is too much money, I'm here waiting for the email...

It's Gerri Hall - Who can I run to...I once had both versions of this at the same time, I don't think you can tell the difference til you play them. It just came out on Grapevine though so that'll do me for a tenner :P

We've got a copy, you only had to ask.

Call me I'll be in the office on Sunday morning.

PS The last copy we sold @ auction 22/03/07 went for £1111

to a UK Dj

I'll dig it out, you're welcome to make me an offer.

Oh please don't tell me how to price my records, I've 3 or 4 copies of this so I know how rare or not it is, if you want to believe the hype and pay that then fine but you'll have a harder job finding a Donna King than this.

that should say I've HAD 3 or 4 copies not I have 3 or 4 copies

I bought Gerri Hall in Wigan Casino record bar for £3 in the 70's, there was a number of copies about but people didn't seem bothered about it. I suppose it was not in vogue at the time, I think it sounds much better now than in those days! Although I didn't know the drum start version then!

There must be some difference in the matrix markings between the two different versions. Would be great if anyone of you who currently have a copy of this can post up what it reads in the dead wax and specify which version you've got. Thanks in advance! thumbsup.gif

ive got the drum start with backing vocal version and apart from a nashville matrix stamp it reads 174-1719 scratched in the run out groove and a 86 nearer to the matrix stamp. the I LOST THE KEY side is the same but number reads 174-1720 . these 7 figure numbers are also printed on the label

Does the matrix have a '1' after the 1719 and a '1' after the 1720 ?

Thanks

Julian

Yeah, mine is without the drumrole. That is weird as it has like double vocal on it. Think I prefer the one without. HOw much is this worth these days?

I couldn't tell you, honestly, if you go back through this thread look at the arguments that were going on 10 years ago...was probably cos I'd had a couple of copies recently and sold them several hundred quid cheaper than had been mentioned.  I'd try £800 quid if I were you, I'd probably ask and get that I think.

George, read the date on James's post. You missed the boat, in fact the boat has probably been scraped by now.

Bloody smileys have gone again.

Phil  if you ever sort the bl**dy smileys let me know I have the same problem !! one minute they're there the next they're gone!!
