Went for a walk along the beach 2 days ago found this fellow ... Also seeing all of the other great photos in this thread has reminded I haven't had my SLR out since my divorce. I still love to use films especially with my telescope.. time to get them dusted

Give it as much sunshine as you can, and try not to over water, but don't let it dry out.  There are specialist feeds, but not worth the money for just one tree, try some slow release pellets they should see it fertilised until August and then if you can find some 0-10-10 fertiliser that will help it through the winter if you feed fortnightly through August and September.  You may have to search for it, but it does help.

The old leaves only last a year, so they do fall off, only fake plants are capable of keeping all their leaves, and only when not exposed to sunlight or bad handling.

Be careful with any baby bio food, little and often is usually a better way to do it, maybe a quarter of the strength they say.  Unless you're still getting frosts it's best outside in the sun now, and shedding fruit is quite natural.

HELP NEEDED

I've got a camera memory card with over 50 photos on that stopped working and states that it is not initialized. On my laptop it says I need to format the disk in drive E. When I attempt this it warns that formatting will erase ALL data. Can anyone tell me what's happened, why and can I fix it without losing all the photos. Any suggestions , even bad news, would be much appreciated, but keep it simple as I'm no expert on computer stuff.

Formatting will erase the data ... sort of ... it's still there until you write over it ... but let's not format it.

Is it the camera or the memory card that has stopped working?

You may have better luck removing the card from the camera and using a card reader plugged into a USB on the PC, at least you would be able to see the card as an external drive and be able to view any files on it, if so you could simply drag them onto your PC.

There is three of them and you can get on them with care, well they took my weight :-). Looks a different picture when the tide comes in and nearly swallows them up!

The camera works fine with other cards so it must be the card. I'll get a card reader and try doing what you say.

Rick. You could also try taking the memory card to your local supermarket. Tesco. Asda etc and insert the card into the photo printing machine to see what that says regarding the pictures.

Memory cards do occasionally become corrupt and fail. Don't know why or how. Good luck

Thanks for that. I've not used a photo printing machine before but I'll give it a try. Looks like I may have a duff card so next time I'll import the photos more often.

good thing in Spain is cars don’t rust, the spanish like their vintage motors allot

Rick. I've never used one either mate. It just seems like every time I go a supermarket someone is using one of the machine's. 

I get mine printed off at 15 " x 10" at Cambrian photography they a bit bigger than normal  as my partner got me a portfolio case and I'm currently building it up.

Regarding the downloading. I do it virtually every time I get home from using the camera just in case.

Top tip for anyone here interested in British wildlife documentaries. Stephen de Vere - professional wildlife cameraman who's worked on many BBC nature series and won an EMMY for his work - has just released the third in his independently-made films about wildlife found in the British countryside.

"Independently-made" means he's done all the camera work and narration himself, and a project that came about initially when he was in between assignments with the BBC. While he lacks the finesse of a voice-over professional/narrator, his amazing "up close and personal" camerawork more than makes up for that.

We found his first film - Through the garden gate - to be fantastic, and on the strength of that bought his second offering. If they're anything to go by this 3rd production will be a treat. Really looking forward to watching it tonight.

Temminicks Stint. This tiny wader . (Sparrow size ) the first that I have ever seen refused to venture closer than about 100metres.

I used my 500mm lens with a 2X converter and heavily cropped the picture just to get this image. I've just added the uncropped version for comparision

The bird breeds in Scandinavia and the Artic and winters in Africa . How such a small bird can make such a incredible journey never ceases to amaze me

How you can spot that from that distance among the rocks is amazing in itself. Patience is the virtue I suppose. Nice one

Andy. The second uncropped picture is with a 1000 mm lens plus the crop factor which takes it to approximately a 1600 mm lens so you as a photographer can appreciate how far away the bird actually was . I didn't find the bird. One of the regular birders got lucky when he saw a Dunlin which is small anyway and the Temmincks Stint was following it very closely. . It actually walked underneath a lapwing, that's how small it is.

Nothing here in North Manchester Steve.

Used to get plenty of electrical storms in the Eastern Mediterranian  ( Turkey ) with no thunder it was amazing to watch the storms out at sea

Canoe!!.... you must have been posh Ste, we only had an Old inner-tube from a ford Anglia.

Was an amazing day out Ste. Not really the Nautical type but I could quite easily get used to that. Sadly my Wallet will only stretch to your aforementioned Canoe though.

I never said I had a canoe mate no chance of affording one I'm from Ditton. We had ponds to swim in or break into the local primary school baths in the summer hols.

Up. Up and Away. Was fortunate enough to see this Heron catch this rather large Tench . It weighed about 1lb 8oz or 750grams in new money . The Heron dropped the Tench in the reedbed further over and left it . Apparently it,s done it before , doesn't even eat the fish just leaves it on the bank.
