Fame recordings - suggestions welcome

Hi

I have a mini-collection of great soul 45s recorded at FAME studios and want to keep it growing. 45s issued on the FAME label (James Barnett, Art Freeman etc) are obvious so II'd love to get  suggestions where the recording ended up on another label (Eula Cooper/Note, Bill Brandon/Tower).

Doesn't have to be Northern but please don't suggest "Torn between two lovers"

Here's a few to get started- all of them much better than "Torn Between Two Lovers"

Etta James- "Tell Mama", "I'd Rather Go Blind", "Security", "Almost Persuaded"

Clarence Carter- "Slip Away", "Too Weak To Fight" etc. - I'm sure there's more

Aretha Franklin- "I Never Loved A Man", "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man"

Wilson Pickett- "Land Of 1000 Dances", "Mustang Sally", "Funky Broadway", "Don't Knock My Love"

There were many artist/labels who used fame, but didn’t release product on the Fame label.  There was a lot of selling music to labels.

Aretha Franklin – Various releases – Atlantic

Laura Lee – Various releases – Chess

Etta James – Various releases – Chess/Cadet

Maurice & Mac – Various releases – Chess

Clarence Carter – Various releases – Atlantic

Wilson Picket – Various releases – Atlantic

Otis Clay – Various releases – Cotillion

Dobie Gray – Find ‘Em, Fool ‘Em – Capricorn

Billy Young – You left The Water Running – Chess

Kip Anderson – the two Checker releases

Bobby Moore & The Rhythm Aces – Various releases – Chess/Checker

Irma Thomas– Various releases – Chess

Roy Lee Johnson – the two Philips releases

Philip Mitchel – Keep On Talking – Smash

Lou Rawls – Win Your Love – Capitol

Mac Davis – I’m Just in Love – Columbia

There are some of Bettye Swann outings on Atlantic that come to mind. They came out after her only record on Fame label ("I'm just living a lie") and they also were recorded at the Fame studios. They're "Victim of a foolish heart", "Today I started loving you again"and "Till I get it right" and they're all worth looking for in my opinion.

The Torch Classic:- James barnett- Keep on Talking. One of my all time fav's , and yes we did a lot if talking at the Torch.    Regards Fred.

Apologies, if I'd have read the beginning of this thread properly I would not have posted James Barnett as its mentioned at the beginning. I'd just like to say again an absolutely brilliant  recording.

All the best Fred.
