Thread promted by the resurgent post “Celebs who are OR Have been into Northern Soul”

Perhaps done before...but how about Film/TV stars that also became NS related artists without knowing!

Just two to start...

Nichelle Nichols - It's Been On My Mind

Connie Stevens - Tick Tock

Aki Aleong featured in a number of movies and record labels. You’ll also find his name as a producer for the Minit label eg The Trensations ‘Soulin and a Rollin’/ ‘Saucy’.

Also Prince Philip Mitchell, Bob Relf, Jackie Lee, the Quotations, the Turnarounds and others

wasn't Lester Tipton better known for dancing on tv show (winning a car with his sister in a national competition)......

I've heard Lester was known for dancing in local clubs and on tv (not sure about the car part of the story though).

Major Lance got his break as a featured dancer on Jim Lounsbury's "Time For Teens" and then got a deal with Mercury Records.

I think the Major was well aware of the Northern Soul scene though.

Brill sound Joey, never gets  played anywhere these days. Hope you're ok Regards Fred.

Thanks very much for such kind words Fred. Yeah, massive back when northern soul was northern soul! Never heard it played for donkeys years. Probably not "soulful" enough, nor by an acceptable artist with suitably soulful credentials. Nor rare enough? Or maybe all three? If it was changing hands for a grand and up, maybe then! Then again, could any of us dance to this the way we use to? Ha! Hip and knee replacement ops spring to mind!

Keep well,

Kindest regards,

Joey.

Interesting credits on the label, Wonder, Moy, Cosby. So the three are Stevie Wonder, Sylvia Moy and would it be Bill Cosby?; always wondered or is it just a coincidence. I have considered playing it at the Central but it's a difficult one to dance to. Regards Fred.
