Sweet/group/deep soul 45's

Recommended Posts

I have a nice bunch of sweet/group/deep soul 45's for sale. PM to reserve, first come first serve. Paypal payments accepted, as gift for orders £150 and over.

Lee Williams & Cymbal’s – A girl from a country town / I’m just a teenager – Rapda / EX / £170 (Very popular 45 and rightly so, with two killer crossover sides. Plain label design without the sack, super clean copy.)

Robert Evans – You can’t stop me from loving you – Trevia / EX / £125 (Nice clean copy of this lowrider scene fave.)

Sky’s the Limit Band – Heroes and fighters – Marjon International / EX / £100 (Odd but lovely group soul pearl on the same label as Maurice Moore. Ultra soulful stuff!)

Odds Against Tomorrow – Point of no return – Sweet As / VG+ / £100 (High quality Youngstown Ohio sweet soul rarity. Vinyl has some light marks, label a neat star written with ballpoint pen. Plays well but not perfect, some very light crackles in places.)

Delvons – Girls get ready (Here we come) – Pato / EX (w/ warp) / £90 (Real nice group harmonies once you get pass the intro which uses a tad too much organ for my taste. Rare 1974 release. Record has a warp which is not sharp so it plays nicely along my Technics 1210/Shure M44G with 1,5g tracking. £500 at the raresoulman.co.uk website.)

Masters of Houston – Please wait for me (My darling) – Ovide / EX / £90 (1968 debut for these awesome balladiers who later was known as the Masters of Soul. Clean copy and scarce on first label!)

Masters of Soul – Please wait for me (My darling) – Capitol / EX / £30 (See above, this is a demo copy complete with company sleeve and has the b-side “Love loves love” as well.)

Spidells – Don’t you forget that you’re my baby / If it ain’t one thing – Coral / EX / £70 (Lowrider style slowie backed with a NS dancer. Yellow promo, dancer side has two tiny X on label, ballad side has tiny “W7” written on label.)

Communicators & Black Experiences Band – One chance – Turbo / EX / £65 (One of my fave group ballads, rare 1974 release. BB hole through label, clean copy apart from that.)

T.S.U. Toronadoes – You’re mine / Back after the news – Ovide / EX / £60 (Clean copy of this killer ballad, just one of few greats from this classic group. Flipside is a nice instrumental, label on this side has been pressed on with a line.)

Bobby D. Husband – Don’t lose faith (in love) – Mid-Way / EX / £60 (Killer lo-fi slowie with a slightly jazzy/funky feel. Rare Detroit release. Vinyl is clean but please note the pressing is not the best.)

Decisions – You look like an angel – Sussex / EX / £60 (Very rare stock copy of this excellent slow group harmony. Nice super clean vinyl copy too. Uptempo flip. This is the same group who have the two very sought after York releases.)

Three Reasons – Take me back – Carnival / EX / £60 (Superb group harmony, the really let go towards the end.)

Freddie Waters – Love is a strange thing – Ref-O-Ree / EX / £40 (Great group harmony, Freddie with an to me unknown backing group.)

Don Hollinger – Let him go – Mercede / EX / £40 (Amazing 1972 Florida deep soul ballad. Small warp, plays well.)

Bob & Gene – Don’t leave me / I gotta find a way – Modo / EX / £35 (Great ballad backed with great crossover.)

Festivals – You’ve got the makings of a lover – Smash / VG+ / £35 (Goose bumps inflicting group harmony. Both sides of the label has partial stickers on label. Record has some light scattered marks which can be heard a little in the first part of the songs with some light crackles. Nothing serious and still very enjoyable.)

Nue Spectrum – Just a little love (Goes a long way) – Flo-Jay / EX / £35 (Rare Compton, California sweet soul ballad. Nice clean copy!)

Masqueraders – Let’s face the facts / I don’t want nobody to lead me on – Wand / VG+ / £30 (Intense deep soul backed with uptempo song. Same superb looking vinyl white demo copy as pictured in the videos below. Record just shy of EX with a few inaudible and light marks.)

Black & Blue – Of all the hearts – Game / EX / £30 (Lovely crossover version of the song also done by the Deceptions, Peace Justice & Equality and by Danny Gold.)

Walter Jackson – It’s an uphill climb to the bottom – OKeh / VG / £30 (Epic beat ballad! Looks VG, plays EX.)

Members of the Staff – Stop the bells / I wanna thank you – Evejim / EX / £25 (Super atmospheric and classic sweet soul, flip is a decent dancer.)

Jato Vondel – Small token of my love / We’ll join together – Gregory / VG / £25 (Sweet soul classic with a truly epic sound. Vinyl has light marks but it plays more or less clean. Flipside a little worse but still ok.)

End Results – Reminiscing – Motion City / EX / £20 (Killer slowie. One label side has small writing, flipside has DJ stamp.)

George Kerr – Sunday – All Platinum / EX / £15 (Essential! One of the best slowies that came out on the label. Four X on flipside label.)

Dynamic Beltones – I need your love – Solar / EX / £10 (Classic sweet soul ballad. Jersey City label, not the LA one with major distribution.)

Fred Johnson – Full time dream  – Capri / EX / £6 (Gold label copy of this dreamy Mod-Art style ballad, essential stuff! Small tear on “Full time dream” label side and a price sticker on the flip. Flipside ain’t too bad either.)
