Northern, Crossover and Modern Soul 45’s

Bill Coday – A man can’t be a man – Epic / EX / £200 (Classic modern soul dancer only available on the rare issue copies. Nice clean copy complete with company sleeve.)

Bobby King – If you don’t want my love – WB / EX / £160 (Major major label rarity here! Tucked away on the flipside of issue copies, thought to be an album only cut for long.Killer modern soul dancer.)

Turner Bros. – Let’s go fishing / Running in the rain – MB / EX / £165 (Lovely clean copy of this great double sider. One side ultra soulful crossover, one superb atmospheric instrumental dancer.)

Joe Valentine – I lost the only love I had – Val /EX / £100 (Classic crossover dancer! Dark red original copy. The deep soul flip is sadly pressed off centre and plays with a little wobbly sound, dancer side is centered and plays great.)

Violinaires – I’m not worried / Tell me how long – Jewel / EX / £85 (Popular soulful gospel soul dancer, flip is more of the same and equally good. Flipside has a few small stains.)

Dorothy Morrison – I can’t go on without you – Brown Door / EX / £85 (Classic atmospheric LA modern dancer.)

Ray Batts – Love me / Don’t take my dreams – Eales / EX / £60 (Real nice 1977 midtempo crossover. with flute and some great guitar play. Funky soul on the flip.)

Jack Montgomery – Beauty isn’t born – Auston’s / EX / £60 (Classic Detroit crossover slowie that comes highly recommended.)

Faith Band – Ridin high – Village / EX / £50 (Very obscure 1976 blue eyed Indianapolis dancer which reminds me of Force “Holy Moses”. Pen mark on flipside. The band also had a couple of albums but this track is 45 only and rare.)

Tommy Keith – Loving you comes easy – Vibration / EX / £40 (1978 atmospheric modern soul dancer. Writing on label.)

Ballad/Deep/Sweet/Group Harmony 45’s

Delvons – Girls get ready (Here we come) – Pato / EX (w/ warp) / £80 (Real nice group harmonies once you get pass the intro which uses a tad too much organ for my taste. Rare 1974 release. Record has a warp which is not sharp so it plays nicely along my Technics 1210/Shure M44G with 1,5g tracking. £500 at the raresoulman.co.uk website.)

Web – The same old me – GES / EX / £70 (Nice clean copy of this rare, pleading slowie.)
