Mike
Suggested by Mick aka @Greedy Mick this time around we are going for a classic battle royale, its... Darrell Banks - Our Love (Is In The Pocket) v J.J. Barnes - Our Love Is In The Pocket voice your choice and as always once posted your choice then feel most free to share your reasons, view, stories, memories etc etc Link to comment Social source share
Popular Post Rick Cooper
Darrell Banks Open the Door/ Our Love is the greatest record ever , however on Our Love I think J J Barnes voice suits the song better so only just tips it for me. Same backing track so Mike Terry on both versions , what more could you want. Rick 6 Link to comment Social source share
Trev Thomas
dont forget the different mix of darrell banks on the "darrell banks is here" album Link to comment Social source share
Tomangoes
The finest of margins, but DB has slightly better atmosphere out on the dancefloor. Ed Link to comment Social source share
Span
Got to be Darrell banks for me. Was one of my first 45s I bought and still play it regularly at home. It's the raw sound for me and as good as JJs version is I still prefer Darrell's version. Neal Link to comment Social source share
BabyBoyAndMyLass
JJB for me, I think I'm not a huge fan of DB, I also prefer Doni Burdick OTDTYH to DB's version, that one is easier for me to explain as the brass has more impact than the DB one. With OLIITP I just find JJB's delivery smoother. Link to comment Social source share
Mr Fred
If i'm not mistaken wasn't this covered in 2014?. For me it has to be Darrell Bank's 7inch single version. Was the version as a pposed to JJ Barnes's that was always played at the Wheel and other noted clubs during the early days of the scene. Regards Fred. Link to comment Social source share
Bruv
They are both wonderful versions that simply ooze Soul, if I had to choose it would be J.J. Barnes for me... Link to comment Social source share
Bbrich
jjB (but only just) has that smoother ( almost Marvin Gaye esque..) quality to the vocals... (at least to my ears). Link to comment Social source share
Guest
Darrell Banks every day of the week. The original, and the best. Hands down. No argument. The version played at the Wheel, Torch, and everywhere else back in the "olden days". And probably the finest double sider ever to grace our scene. Roburt
Surely this is a much better version ... the group always did it in their live show in the mid to late 60's ... Link to comment Social source share
Tomangoes
And the worst... Ed Link to comment Social source share
Girdwoodinc
Love DB, but for this it's JJ that does it for me Link to comment Social source share
Soulman58
DB by a country mile, but as they say to each his own. Link to comment Social source share
Guest Shufflin
JJ has a more dynamic vocal imo Link to comment Social source share
Roburt
Brit groups like the Move & Amen Corner always used to perform this live (though many more did "Open The Door") ... that's how it was back then ... MIND YOU ... I think a lot of the time (by 67/68-ish), their managers were telling them what to include in their live acts ... the Move, Amen Corner & Eyes of Blue all had the same manager ... Mal C
Voted JJ, but man it’s close! Backing vocal wise I love the punchy male vocals on Darrell’s but the girls sure do sound good on JJ’s... JJ’s vocal just wins here for me... glad I got both on 45, that way I don’t actually ever really have to properly vote... malc Edited June 10, 2018 by Mal C Link to comment Social source share

I prefer D.Bs version but that doesn't mean its any better than J.Js. Link to comment Social source share

I would assume that the one issue in existence has the very same. If there's a second issue out there somewhere, and I find it, I'll be VERY sure to let everyone know what the flip is!
