Ficklefingers
My brother in law (not on here) is after a copy of Jimmy Delphs 'Almost' on Karen but I notice there are different label designs - question being: are they just different pressing plants or are there reissues? If so then which variant came out first? TIA Fingers Link to comment Social source share
Markw
Ignore the Karen releases, get the one on Carla because it's got Jimmy's great version of "I've Been Fooled Before" on the flip. No idea whether Carla or Karen came first. 1 Link to comment Social source share
Ficklefingers
Thanks for that Mark, and your reply made me realise I should have asked about variations between Karen and Carla.. I'm thinking just different pressing plants but would prefer a difinitive answer I'll run the Carla version past my bro-in-law as he may not be aware of IBFB and, once heard, that may be the copy he goes for anyway.. MotownSoulMan
The release on Carla was a year prior to the Karen releases. Ain't sure but I think Jimmy Delphs on the Carla label is Red, and I think the original Karen release is a deep blue. Link to comment Social source share
Ficklefingers
Nice One MotownSoullMan.. didn't know that - have spotted blue, purple, multi-coloured, plus WDJ on Karen (script title).. a blue Karen with italic script, plus an Atco release - which I'm presuming is a later, national release? Appreciate the input thus far.. Link to comment Social source share
MotownSoulMan
Aye mate. There's a few of them. I just looked online and could find 3 on Carla, 8 on Karen, 1 on ATCO and 1 on Italian Atlantic. All I know for sure, or should I say, what I am told, is the Carla release came first, with I've Been Fooled Before on the (A) side. Link to comment Social source share
Chalky
One is West Coast I think. Local release. ATCO distributes release etc Link to comment Social source share
Ficklefingers
Thanks for the feedback.. So - looks like regional varitions of Carla before the multi-colour Karen and the national Atco release Plus side for the bro-in-law being he gets IBFB as a bonus! 1 Link to comment Social source share
Mick Holdsworth
I used to have an ATCO copy, but I think it may have been Canadian. Gave it to John Pugh many years ago as it was one title he was trying to collect all the label variations on. Link to comment Social source share
45cellar
Apart from personal choice regarding the CARLA or KAREN release. The pressing plant used can be noted at the end of the label matrix when viewing some ATCO / ATLANTIC record scans. i.e. BW = Bestway PL = Plastic Products SP = Specialty Records MO = Monarch Link to comment Social source share

I still have it Mick (it is Canadian btw) along with a small mountain of label variations, issues/promos, different colours etc, plus the equally wonderful alternative version by BL in assorted label variations - I always intended to frame them all up, but I'd need a massive frame 1 Link to comment Social source share
