Forgotten White Rock Wigan Oldie ?

The Tempest

Recommended Posts

Just been listening to a live recording of the Casino from 75 - one of the tracks is a kind of white rock style group record with the male vocalist singing the chorus of :

Run , run , run my baby throughout

Its inaudible when the vocalist / group / title is announced

Apart from this recording - I have only ever heard this once in over thirty years played out oddly enough by Guy Hennigan of all people ! And he didn't say who it was either !

Any ideas guys ?

Definitely Dalton James and Sutton - used to have it - someone once told me the James is as in Barclay James Harvest (probably BS) - certainly has 'something' but it's certainly not 'soul' - used to have the Wigan tape with it on as well - a lot of dodgy stuff on that one.

The James is Gary James along with Billy Dalton and Ray Sutton.

Definitely because there was no "James" in BJH; apparently it was the first name of a previous singer who left the band before they took their name.

Surely must have been spun the once and then set aside. MGM had some crack tunes back in the day and many still sound good. There were far fewer tracks around in the 70’s and an urge to spin anything that might appeal so naturally there were a few duds. Fortunately there were more than enough good tunes to keep the dancers happy.

I still go weak at the knees when cratedigging in the States and turn up Yellow MGM demos.
