I do not remember who played this track and where (I am too old to remember), but if I had to choose a roar and amazing record to describe my "Northern Soul" feeling this monster would be ........IT !!!! whoever decided that this should be recorded and made into a record was a "mad" genius...all contenders may stand aside IMHO. After a music career he returned to Virginia and became a preacher....he preached to me with this tune

Terrific record 👍

There was one finishing on eBay last night they said was “in the vg range “ whatever that means for US$ 1,500 👀

VG normally means well marked and plays with some noise

if ordered from a good US dealer you might get an EX- copy, could be a nice copy, if ordered from EU it means trashed, trod on, resembles a roller skating rink surface, just my personal experience 🙂

current fav spin, only 100 blue original pressed, a bit left field maybe for on here - contemporary soulful psych garage but it's Friday so who cares

Was just thinking saying it’s vg range is just so non committal, it doesn’t say it plays well or awful looks good or bad 🤷‍♂️

Having said that had one land today from UK dealer described as mint minus that looks like it’s been wash with a Brillo pad, it’s on it’s way back tomorrow 🤨

I'm coming to the end of a mini spending spree from the sale of a record a few weeks back mentioned on another thread, buying again for the first time in over twenty years, I've found the whole thing both exhilarating and frustrating from the minefield of wildly differing prices for the same record, trawling ebay and the fanciful descriptions by sellers, I wasn't aware Hold Back the Night was very rare Northern Soul  🤣    stock photos of records then reading the description this is not original, the anticipation of the records arrival and the fear when behind the door you find it's sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard wrapped with a reel of parcel tape. I've possibly been lucky and not had anything a mile off the listed grading. I've been buying tunes raging from new stuff recommended by you guys down to the popcorn one posted today, had a great time but now it's back to my normal small monthly budget hunting for those elusive bargains.

favs of last few days - used to think the Delfonics trasck was CD only (only recently discovered it had a 45 release in same year), the MD releases are ace, and the Cal Green is great - discoverd via a thread on here - and same thread led me to play the Sunlovers flip side which I'd never played before in all the years of owning it (doh!)

2011 record sounds like 1970

"Now, 35 years since his last album was recorded, Floyd Lawson goes back to his roots and releases two brand new tracks on RK. On side A we find the upbeat “Roof Top Sugar”, a sizzling slice of funky crossover soul with a party vibe and festive atmosphere, backed on the flip by soulful midtempo tune “I Ain’t Going Nowhere”.

Daytoner .

Cornwall based , Penzance I believe and making quite a name for themselves on the U.K. festival circuit with their live performances . Have most of their 45s , which have included in dj sets and radio show but had missed their debut Lp from 2012 until now . Here’s a taster

got the Daytoner 45 when released on Bandcamp, been looking at Bandcamps' still available early 45's and it's pretty interesting what original 45's you can get for next to nothing

this one for example, a current fav, released 2014, less than 3 euros for the original 45, only 1 left

EDIT now sold out

This one completely passed me by until a mate asked me the other week if I knew it, reminded me of why I love this music so much, I must have seen it countless times over the years and most likely heard it in the mists of time,
