Blackpoolsoul Posted February 8, 2019 Share Posted February 8, 2019 (edited) I was doing some research on Nickie lee who also recorded as Leroy and found this info which made me smile Nickie Lee was originally (before he started singing) a DJ in Miami, Florida for WAME and claimed in 1963 to be the world's champion DJ, having done a continuous broadcast (despite medical advice to stop) for 226 hours (nine days, 10 hours) The previous record was held by David Hunt, Jacksonville, who went on for 225 hours, in 1959 Edited February 8, 2019 by Blackpoolsoul Images 2 Link to comment Social source share More sharing options...

ALSO reggae was always popular in Miami; Nickie Lee cut a cover of a Prince Buster song ahead of "Black Is Beautiful".
