Slightly off the soul track but there was this from Desmond Dekker:

Get up in he morning, baked beans for breakfast,

so that every mouth can be fed.

Oh, oh , the Israelites.

Made perfect sense to me - and that's what I would still sing 'cos I don't know the proper words.

I had a mate who used to sing along to Day Tripper by the Beatles....the line where they sing "She's a big teaser...………" Well...….. my pal was CONVINCED the words were "She's a big Jesus...……" Used to sing it out loud until someone put her wise lol 😂  🤣  😂  🤣 She lived it down - eventually......

😂😂 like a sad git I had to check , the lyrics say comforter , but it don’t sound like that 🤔😂👍

Like a sad git I've listened to it again and it's definitely curvature to these ears.  There's even a YouTube video with lyrics that read "curvature", but I'm reluctant to post it given the recent "most hated song" thread.

I just joined the sad git club & listened too - definitely sounds like curvature to me too, but the word doesn't fit in with the context of the lyrics. It's more of  a geometrical term, or possibly medical - eg to describe curvature of the spine. Probably used the word curvature cos it fit in with the rhythm -"wrapped him up in a wooly hat" doesn't sound quite so lyrical does it? lol Never been one of my favourites anyway

A lad at school used to sing "I get my tits out on the floor" to "OOTF", my sister was convinced that Gene McDaniels song was "Walk with a wiggle", and having lived through days when Chesty Morgan's "Deadly Weapons" was around, I was always convinced that John & the Weirdest had done a tribute to her as I sang "Can't get over these mammaries"

I was once put straight here by Steve60 about the lyric 'Just like Py acha oh the clown' on BG ICGA, I am forever in his debt!

One I can never get my head around and have asked here before for lyrics is this one! 'It's a mighty long road when your trying to make it all alone...' Someone please fill in all the rest for me? :hatsoff2:

Barbara Mills - Queen Of Fools

’Well I’m the queen of fools, or so they say, Yes I have, Yes I caught the VD only yesterday’ is what I sing.

I know all the other lyrics to the song, but after 40+ years, I’ve still got no idea what she actually sings.

I think it's a "coverture of silk".  How about my four year daughter asking me to play "that So Silly Walking song, mummy".    Soul City Walking 😂. Bless.

Nice one, that makes sense - a protective or concealing covering.  Don't think I'll be using it in my everyday parlance though.

Pagliaccio.  Smokey also sings about him in Tear of a Clown...

"Just like Pagliacci did,

I try to keep my surface hid..."

Could be wrong but I’m pretty sure it’s

"Just like Pagliacci did,

I try to keep my sadness hid..."

Not sure if those lyrics make much sense either!

Should be:

”Two hearts that got each other, like a string that goes with pearls”

”Like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, well those two, you can’t divide”

I can’t fully make out the ‘and a ship without it’s crew, what could a captain be to you’ bit though.

As long as we're talking about "A Little Togetherness", every once in awhile, the back up singers blurt out a one syllable word-

does anyone know what it is? It's not listed in the link shinehead posted.

There are a couple of lines in Skiing In The Snow I'm not sure if I've got right-

"Snows a falling up on the hill

Gotta get my gear(?)

I'm ready for winter chill"

Then later on

"A week in bed (?) with my love

There's nothing better I know"

If these aren't right then they should be.
