Such sad news. Brilliant singer and artist. Didn't Bacharach used to get him to demo his songs?

Love this:

RIP. From what I've read, Johnson made an appearance on Ready Steady Go in 1965. Is that correct? And if so, any footage?

Sad news indeed. One of the best "big city soul" singers. First came to my attention with There's Always Something There To Remind Me, later overshadowed by Sandy Shaw's version. Always liked his version of If I Never Get To Love You which I've never heard played anywhere. I think he was used by Burt Bacharach to demo songs, sure I read that somewhere.

RIP Lou, thank you for the music that improved our lives.

I've seen a maroon label bootleg with "Unsatisfied" and "Magic Potion".

I'm about 95% sure your blue ink label version  is legitimate.

the blue screen print label is legit, the blue label vinyl press is a repro - according to my copy of "Manship USA 7th edition"

if any of that makes any sense

I have the yellow one

Hi JoeSoap,

'Keep that Fire Burning' is a nice record but NOT  I think by  the late Lou Johnson of whom we are speaking today.

Very sad news.

Always remember magic potion at the Mexborough Brickyard club. Never heard it anywhere else, and it sticks out as a sublime soul record.

RIP

The Brickyard in mexborough that counjers up memories our kid (Rob Ward ) R.I.P. used to go across with The Dj John Simms and a few other lads from Huddersfield. Lou Johnsons unsatisfied always flashes me back to The Pendulum in Manchester.R.I.P. Lou.
