Like with so many majorlabel 70's releases, the winning side can only be found on the issues. The promo copies with the Mono/Stereo sides of the sweet groupsoul winner "I Just Gotta..." are fairlly easy to pick up, but the issues have the DJ-side on it. Here we have a straight and tricky 70's groove with falsetto lead vocals and a pretty insane drum break. This should be gold in the hands of the right DJ.

Chicago Modern Soul rarity with a nice mellow 2 step appeal and two great femme/male vocalists. Not easy to find, but they should have made a 12" out of this, soundquality is not the best due to the length of the song (almost 5 minutes) and it's pressed very narrow. The playing surface looks super clean, but it plays with light crackles in parts.

Legendary deep soul double header produced by Jerry Williams aka Swamp Dogg. The vocals are by Charles Whitehead and no matter what side you put the needle on, you get the deepest most emotional soulmusic ever made. This copy has a spot on the vinyl, that seems to be a pressing flaw, it doesn't sound, so you shouldn't be to worried about it. But you hear very light surface noise on the quite intro. Check the soundfiles, before ordering!

CHICK CARLTON: Preach Love / You Can't Keep A Woman From A Man * DEMO TEST PRESS, VG+, 40.- Euro
The Atco issued 45 from 1970 of this record has the title "Black On White, Brown On Tan" for "You Can't Keep A Woman From A Man". This does not appear to be a test pressing of the Atco release as the catalogue numbers are different. My beleive is, that this a private press. Both songs sound like the Atco released recordings allthough the timing seems to be slightly different. Pretty scarce record and musically great.

The lead singer of the group is called Bernard L. Dixon. Previously he was member of the group Danderliers from Chicago. Bernard Dixon was co-composer and producer of this mighty fine 70's dancer. It also had a release on Communication records (better known for the rare Billy Byrd release), not sure if Communication or Ohio's AMG was first, but the AMG release seems to be way rarer.

This is the same group, that recorded for Monument later. As far as I know, this is Annette Snell's first record. Musically this is a super charming teenage girly 60's dancer. Flipside offers a Mardi Gras party tune.
