I think there's more to this label that meets the Eye or Ear, not convinced it's a Label just putting boots out! What do you think Geeselad, what's the evidence around it, do you think it's just assumptions, we have had stories like this on other record labels only to find over time to be baseless. It is very strange to say the least

Apparently The Mighty Sam is miss-titled Fannie Mac (could be just a typo)

interesting that Prince Johnny Robinson on there as with a few other northern tracks, Arctic strings,Virtues and Gene middleton etc. but who was behind this label?       (Gene middleton on Fun Factory too)

Also have Howard Tate - Ann Byres and Virtues all of which got plenty of spins.

Would love to know a lot more about Andee Records and Who was behind it all, don't remember seeing anything on Soul- Source in the past but i am sure there may well be someone on here knows a lot more about it than i do 😉

Rick, be better off asking these sort of vinyl info questions in a new or an existing topic in the 'box' forum

a lot of members may miss them if they are posted in this topic/forum

cheers

Not new to me, have it on a CD somewhere but must admit I haven't heard it for ages.  Made a note to ad to a playlist.  Shows how easy it is to listen to something a couple of times, but depending upon your mood at the time, to ignore something as sublime as this.

This is quite simply a GREAT record.

The vocal arrangement and performances are just sublime. The way the track shifts up a gear around the 2 minute mark is sheer genius.

A recording to enjoy time after time.

Playing through some b sides don't ever remember playing this, can't remember the last time I played the A side either if it comes to that, think it must have come in a soul pack or something, this is just a great old time feel soul sound, cheaper than a bar of chocolate

That is so so true, makes me think back to a very naïve younger self throwing away anything from a soul pack that didn't hit home on a first play, I can still see myself lifting the dustbin lid and dropping records in.

Not bought a cd in years but the number of tunes I have downloaded in recent years that I now find I have on the early Kent and Goldmine etc cd's that I passed over at the time amazes me, changing tastes and moods you are so right.

This is a bit different...The Players were a lot more than just a funk band. Lovely laid back track with some very tasty piano and guitar work....

The Persuasions version of the late Bill Withers' Lean On Me is an excellent one, too-really outstanding.Jerry had a fine voice and the Persuasions' sweet harmonies backed him up so well

Much under rated group, they did some great stuff, I was very surprised seven or eight years ago to hear You + Me played at what was then a very popular venue, heard it only a couple of times since.

You + Me = Love is a quality Dosco sound for sure. It also amazes me how many times the line up changed but the quality of the group remained.

I have it on Gordy. Smiling Faces Sometimes on the flip is also a great track.

This track always reminded me of Wally Cox This man ...for some reason.

For 1971 it was at the forefront of how the Motown sound was evolving. It's just the right mix of modern and traditional.

70's Motown created tracks like this beast, the flip of "It Should Have Been Me" Awesome.

Another good 'un from Yvonne. Talented singer who, like so many others at that time, should have achieved greater success.

Nice, that will be coming out of the dark later and getting a spin, no doubt a clean as well before it lands on the deck.

Maze couldn't do much wrong for me. They made a string of high quality albums fronted by the excellent Frankie Beverley..

The live version is easily in my all time top ten, however although the original version is great it wouldn't make my top 100.  I was always surprised they never included   this any of the 3 times I saw them live in the UK.

Before Maxwell there was Tashan.  I never understood why he wasn't massive, the first two albums are as good as the genre gets.
